Explosion on St. Petersburg subway in Russia injures several

An explosive device has been made safe in a flat in St Petersburg by Russian police, three days after a bomb on the city's metro left 14 people dead.

Akhbarzhon Dzhalilov, the 22-year-old whom investigators believe detonated a bomb on a train as it traveled between two central St. Petersburg subway stations, is an ethnic Uzbek who came to Russian Federation from the Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan.

Authorities said they had definitively identified all 13 victims of the attack, and had also confirmed Djalilov's fragmented remains using DNA tests.

Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday that the fact that Putin was in the city when the bomb went off, although several dozen miles away from where he was hosting talks, "makes one pause" and is "something for the intelligence agencies to analyze".

An explosive device, small arms and ammunition have been found at homes of detained individuals, the Russian Investigative Committee said.

United passengers to be fully reimbursed
No passengers on the plane have mentioned that Dao did anything but refuse to leave the plane when he was ordered to do so. David Dao was dragged from the airliner after he refused to give up his seat on the full flight.

Investigator Svetlana Petrenko said the driver of the train saved lives by continuing on to the next stop, reducing the danger to passengers who would have had to walk along electrified tracks.

The bomber, Akbarzhon Dzhalilov, had lived in St. Petersburg for several years, working as a auto repairman and later at a sushi bar.

Islamic State - which has fighters from ex-Soviet Central Asia among its ranks - has repeatedly threatened to attack Russian Federation in revenge for Moscow's backing of Syrian leader Bashar al Assad.

No one has claimed responsibility for the subway bombing, but Russian trains and planes have been targeted by bombings staged by Islamist militants in the past.
