Police, council to hold Drug Take-Back Day

The 13th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

In 2016 Milford Police Department collected over 1000 pounds of prescription medication at Drug Take Back events. With the exception of "sharps", any and all prescriptions drugs will be accepted, no questions asked, stated an update to the South Orange Police Department's Facebook page. Local residents can bring prescriptions to the CVS Pharmacy, located at 2782 Cobb Parkway in Kennesaw.

The Drug Enforcement Administration is hosting National Prescription Drug Take Back Day across the country to provide a safe way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs.

The take-back initiative addresses vital public safety and health issues. With the addition of the Drug Take Back Box we hope to collect more throughout the year and also at the annual events.

Rates of prescription drug abuse in the USA are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.
