Flint mayor wants to keep Detroit water after lead crisis

In a reversal, Flint's mayor on Tuesday recommended that the MI city keep getting its drinking water from a Detroit-area system for the long term, saying a planned switch would be too risky and expensive following a man-made crisis that left the supply contaminated with lead.

Karen Weaver will make the announcement Tuesday. The news brief notes that Mayor Weaver had remained committed to drawing Huron River water through the pipeline under construction by the Karegnondi Water Authority. But she reevaluated that decision as a condition of receiving $100 million in federal funding to address the man-made disaster.

Great Lakes Water Authority CEO Sue McCormick says WRAP provides many resources such as bill payment and plumbing fix assistance.

The Flint water crisis was recognized as a federal emergency after the city's water source was changed from pre-treated Lake Huron water from the Detroit water system to raw water from the Flint River in April 2014.

That, and Flint needs more time before its own treatment plant can handle the KWA water.

The arm will then move the freighter to the Earth-facing port of the Unity module. "It looks like we nailed the orbit once again". Orbital ATK is a global leader in aerospace and defense technologies. "But we certainly appreciate the partnership with ULA ".

"This redundancy means that these member communities will be more secure in their water service should an emergency or issue with the GLWA system arise", GLWA CEO Sue McCormick said in a statement.

Flint will also reportedly receive about $1.8 million in savings during the 30-year contract.

The mayor said this plan to stay connected with GLWA is the lowest cost option for Flint, and the quickest to implement.

The decision will be finalized in a few weeks after the city hears from the public in a town hall on April 20.

The mayor said all pipes will be replaced in the city by 2019.

UK election talk builds ahead of surprise statement from May
The opinion polls might give the opposition no chance at the moment, but in two months time the numbers could look very different. Mr Cameron said she made a "brave - and right - decision", wishing the Conservative candidates the best via Twitter.

Bob Kaplan, acting regional director for the Environmental Protection Agency in Chicago, said the agreement is the "best long-term solution".

Kaplan compared the plant to a broken-down auto in need of massive repairs and said the EPA intentionally put plans for spending millions there on hold because of the concern that the city was investing too much in an old facility.
