British politician Jeremy Corbyn accuses elites of sabotoging Brexit

Jeremy Corbyn launched the Labour Party's general election campaign Tuesday with the offer of a "jobs first" Brexit.

A senior Labour source reiterated Mr Corbyn's point after BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg asked him at least five times if the United Kingdom would leave "come hell or high water" and whatever the outcome of the negotiations. "In the coming days, we will be setting out our plan to transform Britain - with an upgraded economy run for the many not the few", he said.

"There is no doubt this country is being held back", Corbyn said in his address to party members.

He will say: "This election isn't about Brexit itself".

Some recent opinion polls have put Prime Minister Theresa May's Conservatives ahead of Labour by more than 20 percentage points and on course for a landslide victory.

North East Lib Dem spokesman Greg Stone said: "Labour's electoral dominance of the North East is under serious threat at this election: voters are unconvinced by Corbyn and his team and we believe that several NE Labour MPs will lose their seats".

Tyler Collins' 3-run homer helps Tigers top Indians 7-1
Tyler Collins hit a three-run homer and Daniel Norris gave up only one run, helping Detroit beat the Tribe, 7-1, on May 1. Zach McAllister relieved and Alex Avila blooped a single into center to score Martinez and Upton for a 7-1 lead.

He said he would "ruin" the Conservative party, which - he claimed - was "owned" by "crooked financiers".

"Our Westminster (political) system is broken and our economy is rigged".

Earlier in the day in Manchester, Mr Corbyn warned: "When Labour wins there will be a reckoning for those who thought they could get away with asset stripping our industry, crashing our economy through their greed and ripping off workers and consumers".

And he was introduced by Coronation Street and Broadchurch and Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, who told cheering activists that they had a month to ensure that a Labour victory turned the United Kingdom into "a society that truly gives a toss about stuff".

The manifesto says: "A Labour approach to Brexit will ensure there can be no rolling back of key rights and protections and that the United Kingdom does not lag behind Europe in workplace protections and environmental standards in future".

During last year's leadership contest, shadow chancellor John McDonnell - one of Mr Corbyn's closest allies - signalled they would both have to stand down if the party lost a general election.

Federal Reserve Leaves Interest Rates Unchanged
What's more, inflation fell for the first time in more than a year in March, while consumer spending numbers were flat. The weak consumer spending and subsiding inflation pressures did little to change expectations of a rate hike in June.

He says UKIP voters in former Labour minister Kate Hoey's Vauxhall seat are being asked to back her.

The centrist Liberal Democrats was on 7 per cent, while just 4 per cent said they would vote for UKIP, down nearly nine per centage points from its support in the 2015 election as the vote for Britain to leave the European Union and May's commitment to Brexit has cut the party's appeal.

The Labour leader, who revealed to Buzzfeed this week that he would not step down as leader regardless of the outcome on June 8, encouraged the packed conference room to take "our" message to the voters.

Jeremy Corbyn has announced plans to continue to as Labour leader, whatever the result of the general election.

Overall, the survey suggests a slight swing towards the main three parties among nurses compared to the last election in 2015, when higher percentages of respondents said they would vote for smaller parties - especially the Greens and UKIP.
