Chelsea Manning released from prison

Obama said he granted Manning clemency because she "has served a tough prison sentence" and because "due process was carried out".

Though she might have been locked up while social media was evolving, she hasn't lost a step and she posted a picture of her sneakers with the caption "First steps of freedom!"

President Obama in January commuted her unprecedented 35-year sentence, right on the eve of the inauguration of the controversial Donald Trump.

"To ensure the privacy and security of Inmate Manning, no further information concerning the release will be provided", US Army spokesman Dave Foster said in a statement. Thank you so much, I want you to know you've been my hero since high school and I'm just so happy for you!

"I'm figuring things out right now-which is exciting, awkward, fun, and all new for me", she added. In a lot of the cases, people plead guilty and get maybe a year in prison.

Greenwald explains that after top US officials condemned, denounced and deemed Manning as a traitor, living in this country will be an uphill battle for the 29-year-old soldier.

The baby girl was in an infant seat on the floor, and the 1-year-old boy was in a playpen next to his brother in the crate. Child welfare officials are declining comment on George's claim they had no problem with the enclosure.

In a recent interview with NPR, Steven Nelson, a reporter with U.S. News and World Report, clarified why Obama made a decision to significantly shorten the original 35-year sentence handed to Manning.

"When I first wrote to Chelsea at the military prison in Kansas, she could not be filmed, nor could I communicate with her in any way other than through letters", Hawkins said in a statement. Neither she nor her attorneys explained why, but she has an aunt who lives there.

"She's going to live in a country where the top officials have expressed extreme denunciations of her, condemnations of her, who regard her as a traitor", he said.

"Welcome back to the world Chelsea!"

Manning, who was known as Bradley Manning before transitioning, was convicted in 2013 of 20 counts, including six Espionage Act violations.

She also said she wanted to expose lies about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and that she was suffering under the anti-LGBT policies then in place in the military.

Some consultants said that the assault could have been configured taking advantage of a weak spot in Microsoft techniques. His concerns were echoed by James Clapper, former director of national intelligence under President Barack Obama.

She was not able to flee overseas like Edward Snowden, who in 2013 released documents showing that the NSA was sweeping up USA citizens' communications metadata.

The day after her sentencing, Manning confirmed through her lawyer that she identifies as a woman.

"Pvt. Manning is statutorily entitled to medical care while on excess leave in an active duty status, pending final appellate review", said Army spokesman Dave Foster.

Amnesty International, which had campaigned for Manning's release, was quick to applaud her freedom but said the fight was not over. She is appealing her conviction. Military prosecutors had argued that Manning's leaks severely damaged US intelligence.

She attempted to take her life twice past year and also conducted a hunger strike.
