Police have released confronting vision showing the shocking moment a school bus almost collided with a truck during peak hour on Sydney's M5 yesterday.

A video of a horrifying near miss collision between a school bus and a truck on the M5 at Hammondville has been shared by the New South Wales police.

Police have praised the actions of a truck driver who was forced to brake heavily to avoid hitting a bus carrying schoolchildren in Sydney's south-west.
