Pathetic excuse: Trump criticises London's 1st Muslim mayor again over attacks

"Every time he (President Trump) puts something out there, he gets criticized by the media all day every day and by everyone else, and guess what, two weeks later he's proven to be right".

The top Democrat on the Senate intelligence committee said Sunday morning there was "no specific" threat against the U.S. following attacks Saturday evening in London.

In a series of tweets, President Trump challenged Khan for saying there was "no reason to be alarmed". "Severe means an attack across the country is still highly likely".

Following the London Bridge attack on Saturday night, an outpouring of support has reached the United Kingdom from across the world.

His leadership in the wake of such tragedy has been commended by top U.S. Diplomat in the U.K. Lewis Lukens and May herself defended Khan when pressed by reporters about Trump's comments.

"I don't think we should roll out the red carpet to the president of the United States of America in the circumstances where his policies go against everything we stand for", Khan told U.K. broadcaster Channel 4 on Monday evening.

Khan's lengthy statement on Sunday morning, heard in full by Reuters, strongly condemned the attack and gave a number of details about what had happened and what measures were being taken in response. After the attacks Khan said publicly that people should not be alarmed by the increased police presence in London. No reason to be alarmed.

Now however, Trump has been condemned by NY mayor Bill de Blasio, who says that Khan is doing an "extraordinary job".

President Donald Trump's sons Eric Trump, left, and Donald Trump Jr., executive vice presidents of The Trump Organization, chat with guests during an event Monday, June 5, 2017, in NY.

London Terror Attack: 2 Suspects Just Identified
A vigil for the victims will take place at nearby Tower Bridge on Monday evening. "It is time to say enough is enough", she said. Less than two weeks earlier, a suicide bomber killed 22 people at a concert in Manchester by United States singer Ariana Grande.

Sebastian Gorka, deputy assistant to the president, also stressed Monday that Trump's tweets were not administration policy.

"I've been doing far more important things over the last 24 hours", he says.

The US President accused the capital's mayor of giving a "pathetic excuse" for how he reassured Londoners after seven people were killed on London Bridge and in Borough Market.

The Trump administration last week formally asked the Supreme Court, the highest court in the US, to allow the ban to take effect, arguing that restricting immigration by refugees and visitors from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen is necessary to protect USA national security.

Trump's tweet renewed his mischaracterization of Khan's statement to London residents following the attack that left seven people dead and dozens injured. "This bloodshed will end", Trump said. May answered "yes", when asked if Trump's visit will go ahead, the newspaper reported.
