All-Pro running back Jamaal Charles enters the fold for the Denver Broncos this season, and he isn't reminiscing about his days with the Kansas City Chiefs. He said he nearly signed his former number - 25, which is cornerback Chris Harris Jr.'s uniform number with the Broncos - on some footballs, and as the Broncos prepared to break away from one practice grouping, "I was about the say 'Chiefs'".

"One time they were about to break down the huddle and I was about to say, 'Chiefs, '" he said. "The past is the past".

"I feel like I can do OTAs, but there is no need to do OTAs, " Charles said. "There's definitely a fire in me". Hey, it's a business. You think I'm just going to come up here and (pauses)?

Charles, who had to get a new jersey number because 25 belongs to All-Pro cornerback Chris Harris Jr., said Denver has been his dream destination for years. "I want to show up and compete with my teammates and show them that I am good and still at the top of my career".

Is that not the most chill over-the-wall catch you've seen? Trumbo then delivered a liner to center field off LeBlanc (3-1). RHP Jamieson Taillon will make his next rehab start Wednesday, pitching for Indianapolis against Toledo.

Charles picked the Broncos, where Elway is now the general manager, for his comeback at age 30 following two years of knee troubles that led the Chiefs to release him.

Charles drew ire from fans when former Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley posted a photo on social media showing himself posing with a group of guys including Charles.

"Before I got to the National Football League, I really liked the Broncos growing up, as a fan", Charles wrote.

Charles made it a regular practice torching Broncos' defenses with that yards-per-carry stat whenever the rivals met - which is why Broncos Country is excited to see what the running back can do, no matter how limited a role. That was a throwback picture. I just don't want to just come here and 'Oh, Jamaal's here now, ' I want to come here to show people what I can do.

Charles continues to work on the side during OTAs and is gearing up to earn a job during training camp later this summer. "I'm happy to come to an organization like this ... they're taking it slow with me". "I just want to come here and bring the energy the experience". He never looked right in three games last season, getting just 12 carries for 3.3 yards per rush. After the season, the Chiefs cut him to clear more than $6 million in salary cap space. Now, he plans a return to the elite category of running backs, but he'll have to beat out C.J. Anderson and Devontae Booker.

"It is important to me". "When I left Kansas City, I was still at the top". It's just the injuries. You can't really control injuries. "The best thing is you just wish for good luck".
