Sterling in consolidation mode ahead of UK election, "Super Thursday"

Mark Ruffalo has joined a small but select group of US celebrities who have thrown their support across the Atlantic to Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the U.K.'s Labour Party, ahead of Britain's general election on Thursday.

Sterling was flat for most of the day before gaining ground mid-afternoon, thanks largely to weakness from the dollar as investors in the greenback started to worry about the political implications of former FBI Director James Comey's appearance in front of Congress on Thursday.

Just two days before the election, Lena Dunham also got involved, writing a lengthy Instagram post in which she said that with Corbyn British voters had a "chance at a fair and just leader who will temper the fascism and darkness of our current American moment". "By contrast, we think sterling could fall back to around $1.26, if the Conservatives fail to win more than a handful of extra seats", Tombs wrote.

Theresa May has visited a greater range of seats than any other party leader by travelling to 68 different constituencies during the seven-week election campaign, new analysis shows.

Labour also received the most mentions of the 11 biggest parties in Britain, with a 44% share compared to the Conservatives' 37%.

May responded by assailing Corbyn's security record.

The Labour Party leader criticised the state of funding available for social care and said that it was unfair that people with cancer would be treated by the NHS but those with dementia may have to pay for treatment as it is deemed a social issue.

He told the crowd: "They underestimated us didn't they?"

U.S. intelligence chiefs deny White House pressure to ease Federal Bureau of Investigation probe
Both said it would be inappropriate to comment because of the investigation that is also underway with special counsel Robert Mueller.

He urged Britons to honor the victims of the Manchester and London attacks "by voting - by showing democracy that will never be cowed by terror and that hope can triumph over fear".

May went into the election with a reputation for quiet competence, and campaigned on a promise of "strong and stable government".

The campaign took the Prime Minister to 18 Tory seats, half of which were marginals, while Mrs May spent little time targeting Liberal Democrat seats, visiting only Richmond Park during her campaign. She was accused of running a tightly controlled and lackluster campaign, and unveiled several policies - including hits on pensioners' wallets - that proved unpopular with voters.

Also, a serving officer writing for The Independent said Saturday's attack was in part a effect of the reductions.

Comey Told Trump He Was Not Target Of Counter-Intel Probe
Comey said he wrote a detailed memo about the encounter immediately afterward and shared it with the FBI's senior leadership team. In the memo are details of the infamous dinner that Comey had with President Donald Trump before his job was abruptly terminated.

The latest opinion polls vary between a solid Conservative lead and a dead heat. "Cutting human rights doesn't necessarily increase security - it can very often decrease security".
