Comey testifies under oath, Trump lashes back: He said vs he said

Mr Trump wouldn't rule out a previous claim that there may be tapes of his conversations with Comey.

Critics of President Donald Trump have raised the possibility that he obstructed justice during his conversations with Comey and by firing him amid the FBI's ongoing probe into Russia's election interference, which potentially includes Trump associates.

Oh. So, according to the president - who seemed to be glancing down at some notes while speaking - we should believe the parts of Comey's testimony that Trump liked, but we should believe the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director perjured himself on the parts that Trump didn't like.

"No collusion, no obstruction", Trump told the press conference, referencing allegations his campaign cooperated with the Russians and then tried to halt an investigation.

He further denied ever asking Mr Comey for his "loyalty", contradicting Mr Comey's detailed sworn testimony about a private dinner in the White House.

"No I didn't say that", Trump stated abruptly, taking questions Friday at a joint press conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis in the Rose Garden. Comey said that Trump asked him specifically whether he could drop the investigation with respect to Flynn, the former national security adviser whom Trump fired for withholding information about his contacts with foreign governments.

The president rebutted that exchange, saying it made "no sense" because "I hardly know the man". "I hardly know the man", he said. Comey also said Trump had never ordered him to halt the overall FBI investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

We have a better chance of Birdman will release Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter V" before President Trump releases the James Comey mixtape and here's why: There ain't no tape!

While testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday, Comey, in his opening statement, said the president had privately told him in the Oval Office, "I hope you can see your way clear to let this go, to letting Flynn go".

TRUMP: Oh, you're going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer, don't worry.

A Washington Times reporter asked Trump why he felt Comey's Thursday testimony "vindicated" him and if tapes of his conversations with Comey "do exist".

During nearly three hours of statements Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey described himself as "stunned" by Trump's "very disturbing" and "very concerning" behavior in several of their meetings.

Asked by a reporter if he had told Comey to drop the investigation into former national security adviser Flynn, Trump said, "I didn't say that".

He also said that any other explanations that have come from the White House were " lies, plain and simple ", as Jessica reports . White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders later responded that, "I can definitively say the president is not a liar ".

Trump fired Comey after the latter continued to move forward with the investigation against Flynn and the Trump campaign's alleged collusion with Russian Federation to interfere in the 2016 USA presidential election.

"I found him to be credible, candid and thorough", Mrs Collins said.

Trump's Twitter account had been quiet throughout Comey's testimony accusing the administration of spreading "lies".

"One hundred per cent", Mr Trump said. We are doing really well. Trump asked, though he went on to say such a request wouldn't have been inappropriate.

Mr Comey testified that he'd given a memo including details about a conversation with President Donald Trump to a friend, who was later identified as law professor Daniel Richman.
