House Intelligence Committee requests Comey's Trump meeting notes, White House tapes

Mr Trump wrote earlier yesterday on Twitter that the former FBI director had vindicated him by telling the Senate Intelligence Committee that the president had not been personally under investigation in the Russian Federation probe.

Former FBI director James Comey speaks during a hearing before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Capitol Hill June 8, 2017 in Washington, DC.

The request comes the day after Comey's momentous testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, and after Trump in a Rose Garden news conference dodged questions about the existence of any White House tapes of his conversations with Comey.

Trump's private attorney, Marc Kasowitz, seized on Comey's admission that he had orchestrated the public release of the information.

Mr Comey accused Mr Trump of firing him to try to undermine the bureau's investigation into possible collusion between his 2016 presidential campaign team and Russian Federation. Those voters will be key to the GOP's success in next year's midterms when Republicans will be defending a fragile majority in the House and looking to pick up seats in the Senate, thanks to a favorable map that has a large group of Democratic incumbents up for re-election in states that voted for Trump.

'London Bridge attackers plan to hire lorry to kill more'
After the attack, investigators searched an apartment that they believe the men used as a safe house to prepare. The intended truck was smaller, but similar to the one used in the Nice, France attack past year .

When Comey was sacked, the White House alluded to the director's failure to move forward with the investigation of 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server. She called Comey an "honorable individual".

A case in point: He said he never asked Comey for loyalty.

Earlier in the day on Twitter, the Republican president claimed "total and complete vindication".

Trump's aides have repeatedly dodged questions about whether conversations relevant to the Russian Federation investigation have been recorded, and so did the president. He painted Trump as a chief executive dismissive of the FBI's independence and made clear that he interpreted Trump's request to end an investigation into Flynn, his former national security adviser, as an order coming from the president. Whether he obstructed justice remains for the facts to come forward. The veteran lawman expressed confidence that could be a matter ripe for investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller, though he declined to offer an opinion on whether it met such a threshold.

As for Trump's comments that there might be tapes of his conversations with Comey, "I'll tell you about it over a very short period of time", he said.

Formula One: Vettel confident but says Hamilton was 'better man'
Honestly I can't believe it. "Ayrton, I know for many of you was your favorite driver and it was the same for me". Hamilton had simply been "the better man" in qualifying.

Mr Comey also said Mr Trump asked him in January to pledge loyalty to the president, an unusual request that would put in doubt the independence of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

According to a statement, Schiff and Conaway have contacted Comey to request copies of his memos and any other documentation he has of his private conversations with Trump.

"That is a very big deal, and not just because it involves me".

Standing with the president of Romania, a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation partner, Trump at last confirmed his commitment to the alliance's mutual defense pact, Article 5, uttering words he deliberately did not say when he spoke at NATO's gathering in Belgium last month. I'm not going to say "I want you to pledge allegiance". "President, this is wrong, '?" "I was so stunned by the conversation, I just took it in".

During a discussion of the Hillary Clinton email investigation, Comey disclosed that then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch, an Obama administration appointee, instructed him to refer to the issue as a "matter", not an "investigation". "He said, 'I hope'". "We had an investigation open at the time so that gave me a queasy feeling". This was no casual get-to-know-you social occasion.

Trump Says Comey Lying, Willing to Speak Under Oath
Meanwhile, a congressional panel asked for any tapes of their conversations. "I mean, I will tell you, I didn't say that", Trump replied.

Trump has begrudgingly accepted that assessment.
