Hamilton wins F1 Canadian GP, picks up points on Vettel

Mercedes set the pace in both the first parts of qualifying, with Hamilton leading Bottas by less than 0.07s in Q2.

Hamilton's performance was rewarded with a race-worn Senna helmet immediately after the session.

Hamilton, starting from pole for a sixth time, got off to a clean start but behind him there was the usual Montreal first lap chaos. Massa, Ricciardo, Ocon and Sainz rounded out the top 10.

Hamilton, a five times victor at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, was third quickest in 1:12.926 but the Briton could not match the Ferrari drivers, who have led final practice in five of the last six race weekends.

British driver Jolyon Palmer was 15th, more than half a second adrift of his Renault team-mate Nico Hulkenberg who finished sixth, while Lance Stroll - the 18-year-old rookie whose motor racing career has been bankrolled by his fashion billionaire father Lawrence - was only a lowly 18th in front of his home crowd.

Iran arrests over 40 suspects in connection with terror attack on parliament
Iran's state broadcaster said a security guard was killed at the tomb and that one of the attackers was slain by security guards. The group had originally belonged to a terrorist cell under the leadership of an individual by the name of Abu Ayesha.

The Italian did admit however that at some point in the season, team orders could come into play. The guys back at the factory have worked so hard to really fix what we had in the last race, bring it here and really give it to the Ferraris.

Mercedes three-times world champion Lewis Hamilton was quickest in the morning session but could not match Raikkonen's pace in the afternoon, posting 1:13.150 ahead of arch-rival and championship leader Sebastian Vettel in the other Ferrari.

Although Kimi Raikkonen may have finished Free Practice 2 a full 0.215s ahead of Lewis Hamilton, the comparison of the race simulations shows that under a tenth is now separating the two manufacturers.

Fernando Alonso had been running 10th before retiring two laps from the end with what he said was an engine failure.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo was third for the third straight week, but teammate Max Verstappen lasted just 20 laps despite jumping from fourth to second at the start.

Firefighters battling two blazes in Box Elder County
Initially the shape of the fire caused air crews to estimate that the fire covered 2,500 acres. Zundel expressed appreciation for those who donated food and beverages to firefighters.

"We'll try to get both cars on the podium soon". The Briton looked untouchable at that stage but on his second run Vettel fell just 0.004s shy and set up a mouthwatering final attempt between the pair.

Ferrari split their strategies during the first long run simulations in FP2 as Sebastian Vettel did not complete a long run on his ultrasoft tyres and instead opted to complete two separate simulations on supersofts.

The accident appeared to ruin the final runs for several drivers who had to abort their flying laps.

Hülkenberg and Ericsson brushed the Wall of Champions barriers, whilst Vettel had a good catch to avoid them. Having suffered damage to his auto, the team was unable to fit his right front tyre, prompting a full shut-down of the vehicle and an expletive-laden set of radio messages from the Russian driver.
