U.S. Dairy's Innovation Center surveyed more than 1,000 adults over the age of 18 in April and found that seven percent of respondents thought that brown cows make chocolate milk.

The old joke we were all told when young, is actually BELIEVED by way too many people. But to a significant portion of Americans, making chocolate milk begins with the color of the cow.

The survey was conducted earlier this month - and whether or not people were simply trying to be amusing, 7% is still pretty alarming.

Top Republican shot and wounded along with his aides
Newhouse said there will be discussions about improving security both for lawmakers and their constituents at public events. Trump also visited wounded Capitol Police Officer Crystal Griner and her wife, with Melania also gifting her with flowers.

"Um, guys, it comes from cows - and not just the brown kind", wrote Elisabeth Sherman of Food & Wine.

The survey findings were released ahead of June, National Dairy Month. When extrapolated, it means approximately 16.4 million Americans-or roughly the population of Pennsylvania-are hopelessly misinformed about chocolate milk, according to the Washington Post.

"At the end of the day, it's an exposure issue", said Cecily Upton, co-founder of the nonprofit FoodCorps, which brings agricultural and nutrition education into elementary schools.

One Department of Agriculture study, commissioned in the early '90s, found that almost one in five adults did not know that hamburgers are made from beef. "Right now, we're conditioned to think that if you need food, you go to the store".
