CBSE Class 12 result 2017: A big mess is in the offing with several students complaining that there have been huge totaling errors. After verification, his marks were revised to 90, the report said.

But this was not the end; more verifications that followed showed revealed that Mohammad Affan, a Mumbai student who had scored 80 per cent and above in all his subjects, scored a 90 in maths instead of the 50 that was previously awarded to him. Another economics student who was "failed" with 9 marks finally ended up with 45. As per the present rules, CBSE allows only verification, aka retotalling, which is different from re-evaluation.

Starting from the controversial decision of scrapping the moderation policy which gave nightmares to students and parents till the "much below than expected marks" obtained by students, CBSE results 2017 has stirred in confusion and panic this year.

"CBSE, being the premier school education board in the country, should definitely take a lead in doing enough to bring in transparency", said Pandey. It was after some of the students sent a request for verification of their total marks that Sonali's marks were doubled and went up to 95. The official added that there have been errors due to various reasons, which range from supplementary answer sheets getting detached, incorrect transfer of the marks to the first page of the answer booklet to errors in the tallying of marks by the board. He insisted that he was not a bad student and wanted his answer sheets re-evaluated at the earliest.
