The Chinese Navy fleet, which docked at Bandar Abbas on Thursday, began its joint military exercise with vessels of the Iranian Navy in waters of Islamic Republic of Iran on Sunday, three years after their first joint navy drill on September 2014.

China's Navy fleet, including Chang Chun destroyer, Chao Hu replenishment ship, Jingzhou guided missile frigate and a helicopter, berthed in Iranian southern port of Bandar Abbas on June 15.

The DOL would still give final approval but would take a faster, streamlined approach, under a new regulation directed by the EO. The goal is to double or triple those numbers, said state Department of Workforce Development Secretary Ray Allen.

The Sunday's drill will be conducted at the end of the Chinese delegation's four-day visit to Iran.

Subsequently, Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari visited China's eastern port city of Qingdao with a high-ranking team and held talks with military officials. Four ships from the US Navy had participated in the joint exercise.

The commander added that in fighting against the ominous phenomenon of piracy, defending trade fleets, and carrying out relief and rescue operations, the two navies have collaboration and exchange useful information.

The joint drills are coming amid a recent move by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, and a number of other Arab and non-Arab states to cut their diplomatic ties with Qatar over its alleged support for terrorism.

In recent months, the US navy has accused the Iranian navy of sending fast-attack boats to harass warships as they pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
