Attorney says Trump not under investigation after president tweeted he was

The President again called the Russian Federation probe a "witch hunt" over the weekend while a legal adviser tried to walk back Trump's admission Friday that he is under investigation.

As he did in exchanges with other news anchors, Sekulow bullishly emphasized to Wallace that Trump's tweet should only be interpreted as a response to the Post report and insisted that that no one has notified Trump or his team that the president is under investigation.

The conservative lawyer, chief counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice, is assisting Trump attorney Marc Kasowitz as Mueller investigates Russian interference in the 2016 elections and the potential obstruction of justice by the president in the firing of former FBI Director James Comey. He says the Trump tweet was specifically directed at a story in The Washington Post about the expanding probe into Russia's election meddling.

Last week, Trump sent a tweet referring to being the victim of a "witch hunt".

"This was his response, via Twitter, via social media, in response to the Washington Post piece with five anonymous sources", Sekulow added.

In spite of tweet, lawyer says Trump not under investigation
A close Trump associate said this week the president was considering firing Mueller, although the White House later denied it. As evidence, Sekulow said that Trump has not been notified of any investigation.

"He's not afraid of the investigation - there is no investigation", Sekulow said on NBC.

MrTrump's anger has highlighted the difficulty his legal team and advisers face in stopping the President from weighing in on an active investigation. "I don't think that tweet helped him", Gingrich said of the remark suggesting that Trump was being investigated.

Trump previously admitted in an interview with NBC News' Lester Holt days after Comey's May 9 ousting that the ongoing Russian Federation investigation influenced his decision to terminate the director. That habit is hurting him in Washington, where even if the president has the legal power to command and dismiss Federal Bureau of Investigation directors and deputy attorney generals, he can not do so without political repercussions.

"It was a striking show of solidarity between two men who previous year had been fierce presidential rivals - who had upbraided each other in deeply personal terms during one of the ugliest stretches of the Republican primary", the Washington Post reported on Friday. He has used the term repeatedly-notably on Thursday, when he said the "single greatest witch hunt in American political history" is being led by "very bad and conflicted people".

A U.S. official who is familiar with the rough outlines of the probe and who spoke on condition of anonymity told Reuters on Thursday that Mueller was also examining whether Trump or others tried to interfere with the investigation. "Many new jobs, high business enthusiasm, massive regulation cuts, 36 new legislative bills signed, great new S.C. Justice, and Infrastructure, Healthcare and Tax Cuts in works!" he wrote.

Transactions for existing homes account for four fifths of the city's total sales and are more sensitive to market changes. There were prices gains in six of the 15 first- and second-tier cities closely monitored by the NBS, unchanged from April.

Sekulow said the tweet on Friday was not an admission, it was a reaction.

Robert Mueller III, the special counsel overseeing the investigation into Russia's influence in the presidential elections.

Lieu's comments come after Trump and his allies against Mueller's character and possible conflicts of interest in an attempt to discredit him and his investigation.

Angus King, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, estimated that investigators are just 20 percent into their probe, which could last for months.

Sekulow: No, Chris, I said that - let me be crystal clear so you completely understand. "There's a lot of information yet to go".
