Attorney says Trump not under investigation

On "Face The Nation" on CBS, Sekulow clarified that he's so confident that there isn't any investigation into the president because they have not received any notification from the special counsel's office.

However in an interview with Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday" Sekulow admitted that he doesn't actually know for certain if Trump is under investigation or not because he can't read the mind of special counsel Robert Mueller.

President Donald Trump's personal lawyer said on Sunday that Trump is not under investigation in the probe into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential race, a statement that appeared to contradict a comment Trump himself made on Twitter last week.

On Sunday, the Russian Foreign Ministry criticized President Donald Trump's decision to freeze a detente with Cuba and his verbal attack on the Caribbean island's leaders. And attacked his own deputy attorney general, Rod Rosenstein (who now might resign or recuse himself).

We're joined now by Jay Sekulow, he's a member of the president's legal team and Chief Counsel at the American Center for Law and Justice.

Yakub Memon, in a controversial judgement, was sentenced to death and hanged on July 30, 2015 in Nagpur jail . His repeated petitions in the court seeking review of the decisions was dismissed by Supreme Court .

Trump has in recent days expressed frustration with Rosenstein, who has the authority to fire Mueller.

"I wanna be very clear here, and very direct", Sekulow told NBC's Chuck Todd.

Dianne Feinstein, top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said she was "increasingly concerned" that Trump will fire both Mueller and Rosenstein.

Donald Trump already admitted that he is under investigation, Sekulow's interview of someone who works for Trump trying to clean up the mess that the President caused. Later, when Sekulow tried to argue about Wallace's motivations, Wallace would come back to that statement. So that - nothing has changed in that regard since James Comey's testimony.

On CNN's State of the Union, Mr Sekulow sought to account for any confusion over Mr Trump's apparently precise words by saying the president could not "in a tweet, include all that is there".

And other members of the Trump transition are being directed to preserve records pertinent to the Russian Federation probe, including foreign travel and records related to former Trump campaign associates, specifically National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, Foreign Policy Adviser Carter Page, Former Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort, and his deputy, Rick Gates. "So here's what you have", Sekulow said. "I can't go into the particulars of our closed investigation", Schiff said. Sekulow also said the Washington Post article is fake news.

"This is the first time the president's overall approval rating has hit the 50% mark since late April", the site states.

Gingrich said that the dismissal did not impede the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe, and that Trump fired Comey because his public behavior was "destructive". "That the president was not and is not a target of investigation", Sekulow answered.

"Okay, well good, we're in agreement", Wallace said.

Trump has not backed down from removing Mueller from the investigation, The New York Daily News reported.
