German luxury carmaker BMW is investing another 130 crore in India to enhance operations, taking its total investment in the country to 1,250 crore.

BMW India plans to counter rival Mercedes Benz's E-Class long-wheelbase saloon with the 6 Series GT that hits the market around the middle of next year.

The plant has an installed capacity of 14,000 units on a single shift basis.

The company is also looking to expand its reach by increasing the number of dealerships and establishing itself in new cities. Out of these, we have 41 sales outlets.

'Totally shocked' by London mosque incident: United Kingdom opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn
The vehicle hit people as they were leaving the Finsbury Park Mosque , one of the biggest in the country, the Muslim Council said. Up to 100 hundred people gathered outside the cordoned off zone blocking the mosque, with tensions high after the incident.

In other emerging towns, in addition to 30 major cities, the company utilises its "Mobile Studios" to expand the market further. In 2017, BMW's Mobile Studios will cover 50 towns.

Vikram Pawah, the newlyappointed president of BMW India, said that the company is working on a series of new models as it looks to up the ante in view of tough competition. The 5 Series is a lucrative model for the firm in India, comprising 30 per cent of its total sales. The newest model will be launched within two weeks, said Pawah. It was also reported that the adventure sibling of G 310 R, the G 310 GS, will be launched in India in the second half of 2017. Pawah said, "We need to have an adequate retail infrastructure before it becomes available here".

The premium vehicle segment is estimated to be around 35,000 units per annum now. In 2017 so far, the company has managed to sell 3,533 units registering a growth of 8 percent over past year.

Munich based luxury vehicle maker BMW Group India posted a strong double digit growth in 2016 after two years of decline, and has carried the momentum into this year by logging 8% growth till May, thus holding on to the tag of being the fastest growing luxury auto brand.

"The idea is to grow the segment".

Trump not under investigation in Russia probe
This same point comes up again around the eight minute mark in the interview when Sekulow again claims there is no investigation . He said Trump had learned the effectiveness of social media as a communications tool during the campaign.

The efforts should be to at least make it five per cent and and eventually 10 per cent of the PV market, he added.

The luxury passenger vehicle market in India, estimated to be around 35,000 units per annum, should see a rise in customer demand following implementation of GST.

However, Pawah said it will be hard to popularise green vehicles in India as there is not enough infrastructure and government support, and consumers fear getting stranded when charge runs of electronic vehicles. "We are disappointed with the GST rates in that PIH has been completely ignored", said Pawah.

"So the transition to electric mobility from a customer viewpoint would be a bigger hurdle", Pawah said.

Trump lashes out at 'conflicted' Russian Federation investigators
