The city is home to defending U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and, of course, Tiger Woods.

On Sunday, the 27-year-old American broke free of a week-long logjam at the top of the leaderboard at Erin Hills with three consecutive birdies on the back nine to shoot a five-under 67 and claim his first major championship. Everyone giving me a piece of advice, stick to what I've done, that's what I did today. "So, to feel as confident as I did on a Sunday of a major and coming down the stretch was pretty neat".

"I have a lot of hard times in a major". "I'm looking forward to my shot at it. I just couldn't stand the fact that I'd only won once". Brooks had the best greens-in-regulation statistic for the week. And I was pretty far off.

Q. Does this sting at all for you? Unable to get up and down Harman bogeyed to leave Koepka clear on 13 under. "It really got to me is all I can say". Out in 41, he restored some semblance of order with a two-under-par back nine. "This (wind) is light and variable compared to the beginning of the day, but that's what you get for playing a poor first few rounds". Was that a tough thing to do to pretend like that didn't happen? "So I guess I'm thankful for that". I'd never teed off this late before, so that was different. "I played two good rounds, but it wasn't enough". I think people - some of the guys - took my social media post (ripping the unplayability of some of the fescue) kind of the wrong way. So on 13 I was just trying to be aggressive and hit the back of the hole.

As recently as 2014, Koepka said he called his manager before the final day of a European event (which he ended up winning) and said, "I don't want to play".

Q. Did you have any inkling on the driving range or putting today that it wasn't going to be like yesterday?

Brooks Koepka runs away with US Open
Koepka then frittered a golden chance to regain the lead on the 11th, but was unable to convert a nervy nine-foot putt for birdie. Open ", he said, "to finish in double digits under par at a major championship, especially the Open, it was a good week".

"Well, it wasn't going to be like yesterday, regardless", Thomas said, acknowledging that record-setting days don't come around all that often. That's not really fair to say. It lets you be aggressive, you can get on runs where you can make birdies. I'm a good ball-striker and a good putter.

And there was Koepka, a self-proclaimed underachiever because he entered with just one Tour victory and tons of potential. "To be honest, I'm not a big golf nerd".

Despite winds gusting up to 25mph which forced tournament officials to change the pin position on the par-three 13th, Spieth showed what was still possible with a closing 69.

Odd mentioned historical players including Francis Ouimet, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, whose names are on the U.S. Open Trophy.

JUSTIN THOMAS: Yeah, I like it. "I hope the moment will come as soon as possible".

He finished at 16-under for the tournament, tying the lowest 72-hole score relation to par in the tournament's history.

Sekulow , however, said Trump's tweet from Trump was specifically directed at a "fake" media report with no "documented sources". The committee sent a bipartisan letter this month to White House counsel Don McGahn seeking an answer by this Friday.

Koepka is unknown to the casual golf watcher but his athletic build and solid form have made him a favorite of those that play in fantasy golf leagues.

"It bites a little bit right now".

The wide open fairways and soft greens of Erin Hills created the ideal course for Koepka. Especially fairways this big. That's what I did and it was great.

"I mean, you've got to tip your cap". When the wind picked up Sunday, Ernie Els thought of another major championship. "I don't think we ever really talked about golf". I'm sure Erin Hills and the USGA would like it to play firmer and faster to see what it would be like. Brian Harman was not much in the mood for any warm, fuzzy chatter about his best performance in a major championship.

"Brooks is a good friend of ours, and happy for him". He's a good buddy of mine. He'd been knocking on the door for a while. They're very much a similar player, where nothing seems to bother them. "The anxiety aspect, he played the Ryder Cup past year and said he wouldn't be nervous and he wasn't nervous". It's insane to think that this is only his second win.
