Grenfell Tower Deaths Rise to 79, London Police Say

The cause of Wednesday's blaze in London is still under investigation, but anger has mounted in the community amid reports that exterior panelling used in an extensive renovation completed previous year may have helped the flames to spread. This 58 include the 30 already confirmed dead, according to Cundy.

Commander of the Metropolitan Police Stuart Cundy said in a statement that a recovery operation, which was briefly suspended for security reasons, had been resumed and family liaison officers were dealing with 52 families. "I really hope it won't, but it may increase".

Detectives investigating the fire at Grenfell Tower in London say new footage of the gutted building's burned-out interior shows just how hard the task of finding and identifying bodies is proving to be.

Theresa May branded the support for Grenfell Tower families in the immediate aftermath of the fire as "not good enough", with police revealing that 58 people are missing and presumed dead. He asked anyone who was in the tower and survived to contact police immediately.

She said earlier that the national mood is somber but that Britain is resolute in the face of adversity.

British outlets said May struggled to offer support or leadership in the wake of the blaze, accusing her of lacking emotional intelligence and calling her "Maybot".

London fire: Police release images of devastating tower inferno
Around 70 people are missing, according to Britain's Press Association, and identification of the victims is proving very hard . Cundy said there may have been other people in the tower who police are not aware of, and that could increase the death toll.

A top former Conservative politician and Times of London columnist blasted May over her handling of the fire, and said that she must resign.

Meanwhile, the Home Office said it was making arrangements for the family of one of those who died in the fire to travel from Syria to Britain for his funeral.

Cundy said an investigation will "seek to find out if any crimes have been committed and if so make sure that we do all we can to bring any person responsible to justice".

It has emerged that a group of concerned residents, the Grenfell Action Group, wrote in a blog post where they said a "catastrophe" was waiting to happen and complained about the "cheap materials and corner cutting" in the block's refurbishment.

Officials are using dental records, fingerprints, DNA samples, tattoos and scars to try and positively identify victims.

They paid their respects before the start of the annual Trooping the Color procession that marks the observance of the queen's birthday.

Greenland tsunami, floods leave 4 people missing after quake
The quake of a magnitude of 4 points occurred on Saturday evening near the settlement of Nuugaatsiaq in South-West Greenland. Some residents posted images to social media showing huge waves breaking over buildings in the town.

Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip have observed a minute of silence to honour the victims of the London high-rise fire. Anger was directed in part towards May, who failed to meet with survivors when she visited the charred remains of the block of Wednesday, and at the local government for failing to guarantee the safety of the building.

Between 50 and 60 people stormed Kensington and Chelsea Town Hall as members of the public demanded the council, which owned the tower blocks, to give reassurances to the victims.

The government has promised a full public inquiry, but that has done little to ease a sense of frustration at the lack of information about how the fire moved so quickly to engulf the building.

Experts believe the exterior cladding, which contained insulation, helped spread the flames quickly up the outside of the public housing tower early Wednesday morning.

The tragedy has provoked a huge response from nearby communities that have donated food and shelter to the victims. More than $3.8 million has been raised for the victims.

Anger flared in the Kensington community over the weekend - with many protests taking place across the capital - as some accused the authorities of withholding information and responding inadequately.

Will Walmart Make An Offer For Whole Foods?
Whole Foods itself had launched an offshoot chain named after its "365" private label brand in a nod to the popularity of no-frills chains.

Some Grenfell residents had warned months ago that fire safety issues at the tower left it at risk of a "catastrophic" event.
