Handel, Ossoff call on help in final days of Georgia race

Republicans anticipated far higher early turnout among reliably Republican voters — Georgia voters don't register by party — while Democrats point to thousands of ballots cast by newly registered voters and those who didn't vote in April. Trump barely won this well-educated, affluent district in November, despite previous Republican nominees here garnering more than 60 percent of the vote.

"Either side gains from a win but they lose more by a loss", former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), who once represented the district, told The News.

With a potential price tag exceeding $50 million, the most expensive House race in US history has become a proxy for the nation's political divides, offering another early test for Trump and the GOP's monopoly in Washington.

Ossoff had raised a whopping $23 million as of the beginning of June, while GOP outside groups have deluged the district to keep Handel near spending parity.

On Monday, House Majority Kevin McCarthy became the latest GOP leader to join Handel campaigning in the suburban Atlanta district. I don't think you are. She said voters "know me" from stints as secretary of state and commission chairman of Georgia's most populous county. But Perdue flatly disputed them, calling the election "a harbinger of national politics" as Handel looked on.

Mexico Hold Portugal In Confederations Cup
However, Osorio felt his side would have been hard done by had Moreno not netted from a corner in second-half injury time . It took a while for both sides to settle but the first real action of interest was possibly the most contentious.

The rally's location holds symbolism for Perdue and the veterans of his 2002 campaign: The airport complex is where he housed his first campaign office in that bid for governor, the beginning of a GOP revival in Georgia that he invoked during Saturday's event.

The Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee says it has spent more than $6 million "to fundamentally transform a traditionally Republican electorate, turn out low-propensity voters, channel the unprecedented grassroots energy, and communicate with swing voters".

In an interview on AM Joy, Ossoff said no issue is more central to that than health care, where people in his district are anxious about Republican efforts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act.

Handel says the Senate can make improvements, but she'd have voted for the House-passed version. But the proposal also would allow states to obtain waivers that would jettison existing prohibitions on charging more for patients based on individual history and risk.

Ossoff says removing that cost protection makes any coverage guarantee "useless", because policies would become unaffordable, particularly given the Republicans' proposal to roll back premium subsidies that are a primary feature of the 2010 law.

Suspected jihadists attack resort outside Mali's capital
On 20 November 2015, the Radisson Hotel in Bamako was the target of a similar attack, killing 20 tourists and two assailants. In a video released in March, jihadists said those two were joining together along with two Mali-based terror groups.

Handel has reacted angrily to Ossoff's assertions, emotionally telling the story of her sister, who she describes as being born with a severe birth defect requiring considerable medical attention.

In that SC race, largely neglected by the media and national Democrats, Republican Ralph Norman is running against Democrat Archie Parnell, in the heavily Republican 5 congressional district, where 39,270 people voted in the Republican primary, compared with 18,709 who voted in the Democrat primary. The race pits Republican Karen Handel, a 55-year-old former secretary of state, against Democrat Jon Ossoff, a 30-year-old filmmaker.

Ossoff is trying for an upset that would rock Washington ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.

Cutting past the political circus that dominates Washington, D.C., Georgia Democrat Jon Ossoff said on Saturday that the highly anticipated special election contest in GA-06 should be about "improving daily life for Georgians".

Trump attorney: President is not under investigation
Rosenstein could eventually be questioned by Mueller about his memo on Comey and what motivated Trump to ask him to write it. The Fox News host didn't let up, again telling Sekulow that he doesn't know whether Trump is under investigation or not.
