Leo Varadkar to meet Theresa May in Downing St

Thousands of people are set to march in protest today against Theresa May's proposed tie-up with the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). That point has been further stressed by both sides in the wake of June's terror attack in London. But May's failure to win a majority in last week's election has weakened her position badly and reopened the debate around the Brexit strategy just days before the country opens its divorce talks with Brussels on Monday. So we have lengthy transition periods to give companies and the government time to adapt. Whoever is Prime Minister will face pressure from Tory back-benchers, Leave campaigners outside Parliament and the right-wing press to implement a hard Brexit.

Rutherglen & Hamilton West MP Ged Killen, who married his husband Peter in 2013, said he had fought for equality all his life as a Labour activist and would carry on in the Commons.

Former Brexit minister David Jones, who was sacked in Mrs May's reshuffle, warned the PM not to row back on the exit strategy taking Britain out of the European Union, telling the newspaper it would be a "betrayal of trust".

May had vowed to end the European Court of Justice's jurisdiction in the UK. May is already on record as insisting her party "will never be neutral in expressing support" for Northern Ireland to remain part of the United Kingdom, an unwise declaration given the peace process idea of the British government as an "honest broker".

"If the DUP really wants to go into the Executive, that party needs to decide whether it is now prepared to embrace a rights-based approach to government in the North".

The community also led a standing ovation and cheered for a fire truck as it drove though towards the north Kensington tower. May herself had come in for a barrage of criticism for failing to visit residents and her response to the disaster.

Where does all this leave the DUP and can it exert influence?

"The danger is that however much any government tries, they will not be seen to be impartial if they are locked into a parliamentary deal, at Westminster, with one of the Northern Ireland parties".

Dr Fox, the International Trade Secretary, writes in The Sunday Telegraph that Britain must be able to sign free trade deals after Brexit - which means leaving the customs union.

Former cabinet minister, Michael Portillo, said the Prime Minister "didn't use her humanity" when she visited the scene of the fire yesterday.

Reaffirming the Communist Party of Ireland's "total opposition" to European Union membership, Mr McCartan argued that the issue was very problematic for Sinn Fein, which changed its position to support European Union membership in Britain's referendum past year.

United Kingdom to Tackle Uncertainties Amid Brexit Negotiations Process
The election of the fervently europhile Macron, and his party's sweep of the French parliament on Sunday, has revived optimism in Brussels.

Sinn Fein parliamentarians were also in London on Thursday to raise concerns with the British government that the Conservative-DUP deal could prevent the restoration of power sharing in Northern Ireland.

But speaking in Dublin after a meeting with the new Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, the DUP leader Arlene Foster said it was down to Sinn Fein whether an agreement is reached.

Northern Ireland's largest nationalist party Sinn Fein said it would oppose any deal that undermines a peace deal known as the Good Friday Agreement, with President Gerry Adams telling Britain: "We want to govern ourselves".

Several Conservative and other leaders have cautioned against the coalition since it would compromise London's neutral position between the contending groups in Northern Ireland - the Republicans and Unionists - and adversely hit the Good Friday Agreement. The Tories never really need an excuse to push their right-wing agenda but now they could have the DUP calling the shots as the ideal excuse to carry on with their cold ideology.

The meeting between Foster and Varadkar highlighted issues that have made some British politicians wary of a deal with the DUP.

No need for alarm bells after draw, says Cristiano Ronaldo
Mexico equalised eight minutes later through a Javier Hernandez diving header after poor defending by the Portuguese. Minutes after coming on, he almost scored a great headed goal but Ochoa came up with a terrific save.

"The risk is that Northern Ireland continues to fail to find solutions, and potentially the peace process unwinds", he told AFP.
