Death toll in London tower block fire rises to 79: police

The number of people presumed dead after last week's massive apartment fire in London has risen to 79, Metropolitan Police said Monday.

He said it had been "incredibly emotional working in there ..."

Speaking outside Scotland Yard, Mr Cundy added: "I have investigated major crime for most of my service and I have seen some awful things".

Cundy explained that one of the reasons identification has been so hard is because dental records are needed from victims who hailed from different countries around the world.

Four players share lead at halfway point of US Open
It's just frustrating, like I said. "When I first played in the (Greater Milwaukee Open), that was the hardest thing", he said. The rankings began in 1986 and this is the first time the top three players in the world have missed the cut in a major.

The fire began early Wednesday and spread rapidly through the 24-storey block that housed hundreds of people. Transport for London (TfL) said the move had been made "at the request of the London Fire Brigade".

British officials said Sunday that exterior cladding used in a recent renovation of the building may have been banned under United Kingdom building regulations.

"I would like to reassure everybody that we will be looking at all criminal offenses that may have been committed by any individual or any organization", said Cundy.

A minute's silence will be held at 11:00am (1000 GMT) across Britain on Monday to remember the victims.

Yanez Trial: Law Enforcement Should Be Concerned
Leary III pointed that out - and also defined what the jury's legal standard should be to convict Yanez of the individual charges. After three white alternates were dismissed after closing arguments, the 12-member jury included two black and ten white people.

The building was past year fitted with insulating cladding, but the material used is now believed to have been highly flammable and could have further inflamed the fire, helping it spread alarmingly fast throughout the building. Some said they had never seen a building fire advance so quickly.

Police said the search for remains had resumed after pausing on Friday because of safety concerns.

Prime Minister Theresa May, already facing severe political problems trying to form a government after losing her majority in Parliament, was heckled when she visited the site on Thursday and criticized for taking too long to meet with survivors, the AP reported.

As anger continued in the wake of the disaster, described by London Mayor Sadiq Khan as a "preventable accident", the Government announced those left homeless will be given at least £5,500 from an emergency fund.

Cristiano Ronaldo 'desperate for Manchester United return'
Ronaldo admitted that the unsettling reception at the Bernabeu has left him upset on occasions. He is not that type of player. "Alvaro is the classic player that can fit anywhere".
