Gunman ID'd in San Francisco UPS Shooting

A gunman killed three people and wounded two at a San Francisco warehouse facility operated by UPS before turning the gun on himself, authorities said Wednesday.

The violence ended when Lam turned the gun on himself and took his own life as workers ran from the packing facility and police closed in, police have said.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A man who fatally shot three fellow UPS drivers appears to have felt disrespected by co-workers, but it's not clear if that was the motivation for the bloodshed, a police official said Friday.

Joseph Cilia, an official with a local Teamsters Union, said Lam's grievance filed in March requested that UPS relieve him of working overtime going forward.

During a Wednesday morning meeting, Lam walked up to driver Benson Louie and shot him. "He said something like, 'I'm hanging in there.' "I don't think he had anybody he could talk to and it got worse and worse".

He would joke about his kids and "how they were eating him out of house and home", and about how he had to lose weight, "and I would say, yeah, me too", Barry said. 50-year-old Louie was killed Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in San Francisco, Calif., with two other UPS drivers.

Two other UPS employees were wounded and later released from a hospital.

That would be it for Harman, who couldn't make up the ground and finished tied for second at 12-under par after shooting even par. Justin Thomas became the first man to shoot a nine-under-par round at the US Open and only the fifth 63 in its 117-year history.

A San Francisco police department official has identified the gunman as Jimmy Lam. Police didn't fire any shots.

As UPS drivers returned to their routes on Thursday, a memorial for victim Mike Lefiti, known as Big Mike, continued to grow at the Diamond Heights Shopping Center. "Today they were back providing service, consoling each another".

"He was a joyful man".

Uniformed UPS employees were led out in a line by officers next to a highway.

"That's where Mike- he would come through that door", said Isaiah Miggins, pointing. Dozens of family members were at the scene for Lefiti, including his cousin who saw him right after he was shot at work.

A photo on Lefiti's Facebook page shows him in his brown UPS uniform holding a trophy.

"Police approached and they were taken to a safe place", he said. "It was like tat, tat, tat, tat, tat, tat, tat".

Deng watched from his window in the Potrero Hill section of San Francisco as workers fled the building.

Assistant Police Chief Toney Chaplin confirmed in a press conference that a total of six people were shot, but two survived and remain hospitalized.

Deng, 30, a data scientist for a start-up company, also saw workers fleeing and another group of about 10 who gathered on the roof and held their hands up as police arrived.

"I want to thank our fearless officers of the San Francisco Police Department, and our dedicated employees at 911 and San Francisco General Hospital".

The shooting happened the same day a gunman opened fire on Republican lawmakers at a congressional baseball practice in Virginia, wounding U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana and several others.

UPS said in a statement that pending the police investigation, it "cannot provide information as to the identity of persons involved at this time" and that regarding those injured, it is "unsure of their status at this time".
