Vehicle collides with pedestrians in Finsbury Park

Late Sunday night a man driving a van mounted a sidewalk in Finsbury Park, north London and plowed into worshippers leaving a local Muslim community center and mosque.

- Police have not named the man arrested, but the van bears the logo and phone number for Pontyclun Van Hire in south Wales.

Police had said hate crimes had risen after the London Bridge attack and they had stepped up their visible presence at places of worship.

The van driver was detained by members of the public after the attack in Seven Sisters Road at 12.20am on Monday. "When I looked back, I thought it was a vehicle accident, but people were shouting, screaming and I realised this was a man choosing to terrorise people who are praying", he told Reuters.

"He said, 'I'd do it again, '" Rana told The Washington Post.

- Imam Mohammed Mahmoud of the Muslim Welfare House stopped an angry crowd from turning on the van driver, telling the furious mob: "Do not touch him".

Amateur video footage showed at least three people on the ground in the aftermath of the attack, with one man receiving mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Several Casualties Reported as Vehicle Strikes Pedestrians in North London
On May 22, a suicide bomber killed 22 people at a concert by American pop singer Ariana Grande in Manchester in northern England. Britain's terrorist alert is set at "severe", meaning an attack is highly likely, Sky News reported.

"Pull his head up, pull his head up", one man yells.

People could be heard shouting and screaming amid the chaos and bloodstains were visible on the pavement. He would've died because so many people were punching him but the imam came out and said, 'No more punching, let's keep him down until the police come'.

Eyewitnesses reported chaotic scenes as the incident unfolded just after midnight, when worshipers had finished evening Ramadan prayers.

"People now have a big question about safety in London after all these terrorist attacks, and we want to assure them that they are safe, and that's why we want to work with the police", Kozbar said. He was taken to hospital as a precaution, where he'll receive a mental health assessment, according to the statement.

Some witnesses at the scene said more than one attacker may have been involved. The 48-year-old suspect was treated for unspecified injuries before being placed under arrest on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police have also denied rumors that a knife was involved.

"What we have seen throughout - whether in the heroism of the ordinary citizens who fought off the attackers at London Bridge; the unbreakable resolve of the residents in Kensington; or this morning the spirit of the community that apprehended this attacker - is that this is an extraordinary city of extraordinary people", she said. He complained that the "mainstream media" was unwilling to call the attack a terrorist incident for many hours. "Our prayers are with the victims". "It appears from eyewitness accounts that the perpetrator was motivated by Islamophobia", he said.

A leader of the Muslim Council of Britain has called for extra security at mosques after a van struck worshippers leaving prayers at the Finsbury Park mosque.

"Thinking of those involved and at the same time our Muslim community and friends".

Where did it take place?

"We urge calm as the investigation establishes the full facts, and in these last days of Ramadan, pray for those affected and for justice".

Manchester was also hit on May 22 when a suicide bomber killed 22 people at an Ariana Grande concert.

Prime Minister Theresa May confirmed the incident was being treated as a "potential" terrorist incident and that she would chair an emergency meeting later on Monday.

A man told Britain's Press Association that the van had swerved suddenly and that he had narrowly avoided being hit.
