Trump lawyer - President not under investigation in Russian Federation probe

After Mr Comey's testimony, Mr Trump said he had been vindicated because it was confirmed he had been told on three occasions that he was not under investigation.

Rosenstein took over the Russian Federation probe soon after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself.

The White House referred to Trump's outside legal counsel when asked if the president was specifically referring to Rosenstein.

A source familiar with the matter told CNN's Evan Perez that investigators for Mueller would speak with Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers.

"The MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN agenda is doing very well despite the distraction of the Witch Hunt".

U.S. President Donald Trump lashed out Friday over the investigation into his "collusion with the Russians" saying the lack of any proof of alleged connections is "sad!"

The transition official spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to discuss post-election decisions publicly.

Reports in U.S. media said senior intelligence officials would be interviewed on whether Mr Trump tried to end an inquiry into his sacked National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, and about the firing of Federal Bureau of Investigation chief James Comey.

Comey prepared multiple contemporaneous memos documenting conversations with Trump that made him uneasy in the weeks before his May 9 firing.

The Washington Post, citing anonymous sources, had reported some hours earlier that Mueller, who is probing Russia's election interference and the possible links between Moscow and Trump's campaign, had added a key element to that probe, namely that the President would now be under investigation for obstruction of justice.

Trump's tweet came after Rosenstein issued a statement Thursday evening pushing back on reports the president was under investigation.

The White House has directed questions for details to outside legal counsel, which has not responded.

Trump continues to deny wrongdoing, but Americans may be losing faith, according to a new Associated Press poll.

USA intelligence agencies concluded in a report issued in January that Russian Federation interfered in the presidential race to try to help Trump win, in part by hacking and releasing emails damaging to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Pence headed the Trump transition until inauguration day.

Former Trump transition team aides were ordered to preserve any documents related to Russian Federation and the activities of a number of campaign officials, according to a memo issued by the transition team's general counsel office Thursday.

"Why is that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russian Federation are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?" the president tweeted.

Obstruction of justice is an impeachable offense.

Trump has described these reports as "fake news" and the investigations as a "witch hunt".
