Trump not under investigation in Russia probe, his lawyer says

There have been multiple news reports and a tweet from Trump himself on Friday that began with: "I am being investigated".

President Donald Trump just expanded his legal team, but one of his lawyers appears to be out of touch with reality.

From a newsworthiness point of view, the most important part was Sekulow seemingly admitting that Trump is under investigation.

A member of President Trump's legal team said Sunday that the president is not under investigation by the special counsel looking into Russia's election-year meddling, contradicting Trump's assertion in a Friday morning tweet that he is a subject of the widening inquiry.

Asked on Fox News about reports that Trump may consider removing Rosenstein and maybe Mueller from their posts, Sekulow said, "I've heard nothing about that at all".

Banned materials suspected in London fire
Authorities in London said Saturday that 58 people missing are presumed dead from this week's fire disaster at a high-rise tower. Hands cautioned that officials don't yet have exact details about the renovation that ended just previous year .

However, that argument conveniently ignores that Comey was sacked more than a month ago, prior to the appointment of Mueller, and most importantly, that Comey's firing itself could have been the reason for opening an investigation into Trump's possible obstruction of justice.

"So the response there is clear and I want be really clear about this", he added.

"Why does the president seem, act as if he is so concerned about this investigation if he did nothing wrong?"

They went a few more rounds before Tapper wondered, "is that not frustrating for you as an attorney to have a client that is sharing information with the world that's not accurate?" The committee also sent a letter to Comey asking for any notes or memos. "Witch Hunt." Rosenstein appointed Mueller to be the special counsel in the investigation, although Mueller is actually conducting it.

The Senate intelligence committee is in the early stages of its probe and is looking at whether anyone involved in the campaign shared information with the Russians, said Senator Angus King of ME, an independent who caucuses with Democrats.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who argued earlier this week a president can not be guilty of obstruction of justice even though Gingrich voted in favor of an obstruction count against former President Bill Clinton and the fact that former President Richard Nixon resigned rather than face impeachment for obstruction, said on ABC's "This Week" that though he has "no problem with Bob Mueller as a person ..."

Fellow panelist Angus King, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, estimated that investigators are just 20 percent into their probe, which could last for months.

"I can say categorically that the collusion, the cooperation aspect of the investigation is not over".

"The MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN agenda is doing very well despite the distraction of the Witch Hunt", he wrote, before citing an outlying Rasmussen poll that gave him a 50% approval rating.

"I don't think it serves him well". But, he added, "this is a president that has utilised social media, has revolutionised the whole concept of electioneering with social media". Host Chris Wallace heard the same Trump-tweet defense from Sekulow, but repeatedly made it clear that he didn't think the lawyer actually knew whether or not the president was under investigation.
