Trump not under investigation in Russia probe

Lawyer denies President Trump is under investigation

Lawyer denies President Trump is under investigation

Number one, the letter to the president of the United States from the attorney general of the United States is, 'Therefore, I must recommend you remove Director James Comey and identify an experienced and qualified individual to lead the great men and women of the FBI.' That's pretty unqualified.

Jay Sekulow, a Trump attorney who has surfaced recently to defend Trump, appeared on NBC's "Meet The Press" on Sunday to state otherwise.

It seems pretty clear cut here, but Sekulow maintains that Trump is not under investigation and he was merely responding to a Washington Post article.

Speaking to a bemused Jake Tapper on CNN, Sekulow said the president was responding to a Washington Post story from Wednesday which reported, citing five anonymous officials, that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had expanded his Russian Federation investigation to examine whether Trump attempted to obstruct justice.

Things got particularly contentious between Sekulow and Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, who pointed out that Sekulow simply can not say whether the special counsel is investigating Trump.

Speculation surrounding a potential Mueller firing ramped up last week, after a friend of the president's said that Trump was "weighing" whether to terminate the special counsel.

Trump lashes out at 'conflicted' Russian Federation investigators
Still, the snowballing investigation has deeply angered Trump, who denies he has any nefarious ties to Russian Federation . The White House has directed questions for details to outside legal counsel, which has not responded.

"Let me be clear here".

And it kept going on and on like this until finally Wallace figuratively threw his hands in the air, responding to Sekulow saying there's no investigation after saying he didn't know if there was one.

Earlier this month, Rosenstein told The Associated Press that "if anything that I did winds up being relevant to his investigation then, as Director Mueller and I discussed, if there's a need from me to recuse, I will".

Sekulow also appeared on "Face the Nation" where he continued to use the argument that Trump is not under investigation because they hadn't received any notice that he was.

To say that Painter is biased against President Trump would be an understatement.

Trump adviser Newt Gingrich said on ABC's "This Week" that the tweet Friday "didn't help him".

That gauge is called core Personal Consumption Expenditures, and it was up just 1.5 percent in the 12 months ending in April. However, the actual path of the federal funds rate will depend on the economic outlook as informed by incoming data.

"There's a limitation on Twitter, as we all know", Sekulow said.

They said Sekulow's denials were not so much a legal argument as an effort to fix the political damage from the apparent admission by Trump. The President's response was as it related to the Washington Post report.

Sen. Marco RubioMarco RubioRubio: Trump doesn't have a problem with more Russian Federation sanctions Rubio: Everyone is going to weigh in on healthcare Rubio: "We should have confidence in" Mueller's investigation MORE (R-Fla.) said on Sunday that he does not believe President Trump would have problems with additional sanctions on Russian Federation, despite comments by administration officials.

Mr. Schiff said the investigation is "just getting started". The result was that Rosenstein, a career prosecutor with no affiliation to Trump, unilaterally chose to appoint a special counsel and hired Mueller. But America's laws today are a web in which even the most innocuous citizen can get tangled-a citizen who has business dealings with figures as corrupt as many Russian businessmen and officials tend to be is nearly certainly open to prosecution on one technicality or another, as is anyone who talks to federal investigators and tells even the smallest of lies. This same point comes up again around the eight minute mark in the interview when Sekulow again claims there is no investigation. He said the closed off process was not particularly out of the ordinary and that any bill should be eventually subject to open debate and change. "And I think it's in everybody's best interest if we let him do his job, and we do ours".

"Okay, well good, we're in agreement", Wallace said.

The order from the general counsel for the transition team casts a wide net on documents that could shed light on ties between Trump's presidential campaign and representatives of Russia's government. He said Trump had learned the effectiveness of social media as a communications tool during the campaign.
