UK: New siding on burned tower broke rules

An emotional Prince William described the tragedy, which claimed the lives of at least 30 people on Tuesday night, as "one of the most awful things I've ever seen".

In this photo released by the Metropolitan Police on Sunday, June 18, 2017, a firefighter stands outside of the Grenfell Tower after fire engulfed the 24-storey building, in London.

The angry protesters barged their way through an automatic door at Kensington and Chelsea town hall and sought to gain entry to an upper floor. They say their complaints were ignored - and fear it was because the tower was full of poor people in a predominantly wealthy borough.

"We are now looking to source interim accommodation for those Grenfell Tower residents and also trying to assist, where possible, elderly and vulnerable residents from surrounding areas who have been unable to return to their homes due to the safety cordon", they said in a statement.

When pressed on Theresa May's response to the fire, which has been criticised after she did not face the public during visits to the Grenfell site, Mr Green insisted she was as "distraught as anyone". Outside St. Clement's Church, where May made her announcement, angry residents shouted "Coward!" and heckled May.

She declined to speak to anyone outside the meeting where an angry crowd had gathered and police broke up a scuffle among the group as Mrs May's vehicle drove off.

The government has set up a £5 million ($6.4 million, 5.7 million euros) emergency fund for the Grenfell Tower residents, allocating a minimum £5,500 to each household with £500 cash payments already being handed out.

Trump still tweets 'Witch Hunt' but attorney says president isn't under investigation
But Rosenstein, too, may ultimately have to hand off oversight given his role in Trump's decision to fire Comey. As evidence, Sekulow said that Trump has not been notified of any investigation.

'I understand people have come to pay their respects, even if they didn't know anyone we all feel this could happen anywhere'. Large numbers of volunteers are assisting survivors.

On Friday, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William visited the Westway Sports Centre in London, which has served as an emergency rescue center for victims of the nearby Grenfell Tower fire. "We haven't heard anything yet", Jessica's uncle told the Daily Mirror.

Earlier police announced that the number of confirmed deaths had risen from 17.

At least 30 people have died in Wednesday's fire and dozens are missing.

Responding to fears the total number of dead could eventually be more than 100, Metropolitan Police commander Stuart Cundy said: "I really hope it isn't".

Cundy said police had started a criminal investigation but there was nothing to suggest "that the fire had been started deliberately".

Experts said the intensity of the fire will make naming victims extremely hard.

Mosque attack being treated as terrorism
She said a police officer was doing what looked like a "cardiac massage, as if they might have had a bad heart or something". Ratib Al-Sulaman told CNN he was sitting with friends two minutes away, when an "incident in front of the mosque" occurred.

"Our absolute priority.is identifying and locating those people who are still missing", Cundy said. The crowd, shouting "May must go", "justice for Grenfell" and "blood on your hands", were met with a cordon of police officers as they marched up Horseguards Parade, coming to a stop outside the entrance to Downing Street.

NHS England says the injured are being treated in four London hospitals.

One of the victims was Mohammed Alhajali, a 23-year-old Syrian refugee who came to Britain in 2014 with his brother and was studying civil engineering. "You get a lot of fragmentation of bodies, charring of bones and sometimes all that's left is ash", said Peter Vanezis, a professor of forensic medical sciences at Queen Mary University in London.

Other victims have been named by their families.

John Cowley, managing director of CEP Architectural Facades, which produced rainscreen panels and windows for Grenfell Tower's cladding sub-contractor Harley Facades Ltd, said: "Reynobond PE is not banned in the UK".

The group a year ago completed a 10 million pound ($12.8 million) renovation that included new outside insulation panels, double-paned windows and a communal heating system. The building was gutted in a blaze early Wednesday morning that has also left dozens missing and hundreds of others homeless.
