USA president not under investigation for obstruction: His attorney

However, that argument conveniently ignores that Comey was sacked more than a month ago, prior to the appointment of Mueller, and most importantly, that Comey's firing itself could have been the reason for opening an investigation into Trump's possible obstruction of justice.

Mueller, a former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was named last month to conduct a wide ranging criminal probe whether Trump campaign aides illegally colluded with Russian officials to help Trump win and also whether Trump obstructed justice in firing another FBI director, James Comey, at a time he was leading the Russia investigation before Mueller's appointment.

There have been multiple news reports and a tweet from Trump himself on Friday that began with: "I am being investigated".

Jay Sekulow said the tweet was not a confirmation of the investigation, but instead a response to a report in The Washington Post.

Search ends for 7 Navy sailors as bodies found
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has sent a sympathy message to President Donald Trump over the fatal collision involving a U.S. Aircraft and vessels have been looking for the missing personnel since the two ships crashed in the pre-dawn hours Saturday.

Sekulow said Trump would address the issue of the tapes - whose very existence have been the source of much speculation - in the "week ahead".

The post Trump tweets his frustration with Russian Federation investigation appeared first on PBS NewsHour.

TODD: The president said to Lester Holt that he had already made the decision to fire James Comey.

"He's being investigated for taking the action that the attorney general and the deputy attorney general recommended him to take, by the agency that recommended he take the action", he told host Chris Wallace.

Grenfell Tower families to get £5500 government payout
Condoling the incident earlier, Londor Mayor Sadiq Khan said , "The bad news, I'm afraid, is lots of people died in the fire ". The tragedy has provoked a big response from nearby communities that have donated food and shelter to the victim.

Some of his ire is aimed at Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general and investigative special counsel Robert Mueller, both of whom the president believes are biased against him, associates say. "The president is not and has not been under investigation".

The ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee says he believes there is evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation to interfere in the general election. "And now I get an independent counsel who is going to mess up at least the next year at a minimum.' And who, by the way, you'll notice is expanding his charge", Gingrich said. "But you're his attorney, and you're saying that the president, when he said that, was not accurate".

The former speaker first pushed out the line during a Good Morning America appearance on Tuesday, when he again highlighted the fact some of Mueller's hires had donated to Democratic political candidates, including Trump's rival Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama. Mr Rosenstein has appointed investigative special counsel Robert Mueller to lead the inquiry.

Sekulow said he didn't read minds but he understood what Wallace was attempting to do. "The Department of Justice has a long-established policy to neither confirm nor deny such allegations".

Special counsel investigating Kushner business dealings
The White House has been directing all questions related to this to Trump's personal attorney Marc Kasowitz. A week after Comey's firing, Mueller was appointed as special counsel to lead the probe.

"Oh boy, this is weird", Wallace responded, noting, again, that Sekulow can not know there is no investigation. And while Sekulow and others, understandably, want to keep the focus on narrow legal questions, the greatest danger for Trump lies not in the realm of the courts, but in the world of politics. Sekulow added that Trump is "very effective" with his use of social media. John Wagner wrote this story.
