Police: Vehicle strikes several pedestrians on London road

Though authorities have not released how many people were injured as a result of the van striking pedestrians, they have said that there are a "number of casualties".

Police said they were called just after 12:20 am on Monday, local time, and have arrested one man.

Prime Minister Theresa May said that the incident is being treated as a "potential terrorist attack".

Witness Hussain Ali also claimed the suspect was smiling and waving as he brought carnage to Seven Sisters Road in Finsbury Park, north London.

The Muslim Council of Britain said the vehicle had hit people as they were leaving Finsbury Park mosque. Muslims now are observing Ramadan, during which they fast from dawn to dusk and engage in intense prayer and feast at sundown.

Scalise Family: This Father's Day Has a Special Meaning
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell , R-Ky., on Thursday urged prayers for Scalise and the other victims of the shooting. He had access to the facility through Wednesday and arrived less than two hours before the shooting, the YMCA said.

One man died at the scene and 10 people were injured.

The deadly collision bookends a tragic month in the United Kingdom, which has seen two separate terror attacks and a fatal fire in less than four weeks. He saw an old man on the ground and others who were injured, some were "really bad", he said.

"I'm totally shocked at the incident at Finsbury Park tonight". Armed police, ambulances and the fire service were in attendance.

Finsbury Park mosque was once a notorious hub for radical Islamists but has entirely changed in recent years under new management.

"People were shouting this is an act of terrorism, even though he's white", another witness, Hillary Briffa, said, referring to the man taken away be police.

Mosque attack being treated as terrorism
She said a police officer was doing what looked like a "cardiac massage, as if they might have had a bad heart or something". Ratib Al-Sulaman told CNN he was sitting with friends two minutes away, when an "incident in front of the mosque" occurred.

Transport for London said on Twitter that sections of Seven Sisters Road were closed due to an "emergency services incident". Calling it a major incident, the police said that they are investigating if it was accidental or deliberate.

Kozbar complained that the "mainstream media" was unwilling to call the attack a terrorist incident for many hours.

Earlier this month, a van veered into pedestrians on London Bridge, with attackers then stabbing and slashing eight people to death and wounding many others on the bridge and in the nearby Borough Market area.

The scene is just metres from the main trunk railway line linking London with Edinburgh, the main Arsenal Football Club shop and what was the Rainbow Theatre, considered the prestige London concert venue in the 1960s and 1970s. Three Muslim extremists who carried out the attack were shot dead by police, as bar customers threw bottles and chairs to defend themselves.

"We know that the police were on hand immediately", she said responding to questions on Sky TV.
