Family members said they believed race played a role in the death of 30-year-old Charleena Lyles, who was African-American, the Seattle Times reported.

Three children who were inside the apartment at the time. But family members, who say that Lyles had been struggling over the past year in particular with some kind of mental health trouble, maintain that deadly force wasn't necessary.

According to the Times, initial reports indicated that a man shot his wife, triggering a police call, though it was not immediately clear where that report came from.

History was made on Sunday night when Pakistan defeated India in the finals of the Champions Trophy 2017 in London . I am very hopeful of their win especially after the way India have played in the tournament so far.

According to The Seattle Times, Lyles allegedly called police just after 10 a.m. PST on Sunday to report an attempted burglary at her apartment in Magnuson Park.

Per Seattle Police protocol, and in accordance with the Department of Justice, detectives from the Force Investigation Team (FIT) and SPD Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) responded to the scene, along with representatives from the Office of Professional Accountability. Williams told the Seattle Times that one condition was that she receive mental health counseling, though the newspaper could not independently verify that information Sunday. They administered CPR but were unable to save her. "There's no way you could've taken a taser and taken her down?" Both officers opened fire and the woman was struck multiple times. "I could have taken her down", Monika Williams, the dead woman's sister, tells the Times. On Sunday, "officers were confronted by a 30-year-old woman armed with a knife", says the department.

The children were "unharmed" in the incident, and are in the care of loved ones. Lyles was charged with obstruction because she refused to hand over one of the children to officers until her Williams arrived at the scene.

Police also said he would be "subject of a mental health assessment in due course". "I heard a lot of shouting and panic. Several bunches of flowers had been deposited outside the mosque as commuters went to work on Monday morning.

What was the relationship between Lyles and police that made them think they needed two cops? Three of her children, ages 1, 4, and 11, were home at the time, and relatives say Lyles was several months pregnant with her fifth child.

She said Lyles had "mental health issues" that were going untreated.

The Seattle Times reports (http://bit.ly/2sNk2nM ) that both officers fired their weapons. They have been taken into protective custody.
