The Latest: Fans line up early for Warriors celebration

The team is called the Golden State Warriors, but they don't belong to all of California.

Fans who gathered in Oakland for Thursday's parade said they expected more championships from the team in the years to come.

The newly minted National Basketball Association champs celebrated their second National Basketball Association title in three years in Oakland, California, and Steph brought his wife, Ayesha - rocking a sequined blue-and-gold bomber jacket - and young daughters, 4-year-old Riley and 1-year-old Ryan, along for the ride.

Oakland is also losing one of its other beloved teams, the Raiders, to Las Vegas, and the city is still reeling from a police scandal and mourning a deadly warehouse fire.

But on Thursday the city made headlines for good news. They dropped the NBA Finals opener to league MVP Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers, then took the next four games.

Warriors players on buses passed Cahambing and his family twirling T-shirts over their heads and waving to the crowd as blue and yellow confetti rained down. The previous year, James had sat in the same seat and discussed the impact of Muhammad Ali after his death and what he meant to generations of kids like him growing up.

Kevin Durant: Warriors 'Work Extremely Well Together', Not Superteam
Fresh off their second championship in three years, the Golden State Warriors sound like they're ready to run it back ... again. In a series where the Cavaliers were outscored by 34 points, it is remarkable that LeBron recorded a plus/ minus of +20.

The parade ended on the shores of Lake Merritt where coach Steve Kerr and the players addressed the crowd during an 80-minute rally. It was an apparent swipe at the Cavs' team leader, LeBron James, who clowned the Warriors after losing their 3-1 series lead to the Cavs previous year.

Curry starred in the series, combining with Kevin Durant to score 41 points in Game 5 on Monday, and beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-1 for the Warriors second championship in three years.

"I remember exactly where I was this time a year ago, and it wasn't a great feeling", Curry told the crowd at a rally after the parade. "The Warriors are still Oakland's team, and, as far as I'm concerned, it's "Go Warriors" all day, every day for the rest of my life". That manifested itself in the playoffs, as the Dubs went a remarkable 15-1 in the postseason en route to their second title in the last three years.

"We've overcome a lot of doubts", said Tulio Zelada, 28, a San Francisco resident who described himself as a Warriors fan since elementary school.

Most observers would suggest that the Cavs are the team best positioned to challenge the dominant Warriors again next season, but we have taken a look at five other contenders.

Green interacted with the crowd on numerous occasions as the parade meandered through the streets of Oakland, where excited fans serenaded the players.

Of course, that made it look like James was calling himself the ultimate warrior by beating the Golden State Warriors [VIDEO ]. That's why the National Basketball Association star had a special shirt made for the Warriors championship parade on Thursday.

Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant will only be 29 at the start of next season, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green just 27.

"'I've never played on a super team.' You started the super team, bro".

James teamed up with All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat to win his first championship in 2012.

"We're going to do what our leader (Curry) does". Guber said "seal it", the Warriors would be back here next year celebrating.

"It's still in the Bay", he said.

It is a tradition in the United States that professional sports teams visit the White House as the Chicago Cubs did in January when they spent time with President Barack Obama after capturing their 2016 Major League Baseball title.

Exit polls: Large majority for Macron in French parliament
She said her far-right National Front has won at least 6 seats in the French parliament and is still waiting for other results. The polls projected the Republicans and its allies would be the main opposition force with between 97 and 133 seats.
