The jury reached its verdict of not guilty on the manslaughter charge as well as the two counts of unsafe discharge of a firearm Friday afternoon after about 30 hours of deliberations.

In reaction to the verdict, Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton offered his condolences to the Castile family, calling his death "a bad tragedy" in a statement that made no mention of Yanez.

Yanez "chose to use deadly force as a first option, not a last resort", prosecutor Jeff Paulsen told jurors during closing arguments Monday, according to WCCO.

The verdict on Friday [Saturday NZ Time] drew an angry reaction from Castile's mother. The department's chief promised a new unit would be ready to handle peaceful demonstrations by the time the verdict came down in the Yanez trial.

Yanez faced manslaughter charges over the July 2016 deadly shooting of Castile, who was black, at a traffic stop in suburban Falcon Heights. "This time we had a young man who had no criminal record", she said. He said the last two holdouts eventually agreed on acquittal. Two of the 12-member jury were black.

Yes, the evidence indicates that Yanez was afraid for his life.

Earlier in the day, the BJP had held a Parliamentary Board meeting to decide its candidate for the 2017 Presidential elections . In fact, Kumar was the first non-BJP leader to call on Kovind in Raj Bhavan on Monday soon after Shah announced his candidature.

As much as Sunday's rally was a show of solidarity in Chicago for Castile's family, organizers said, it also was a reminder that the work of activists was far from finished and that the fight must continue.

Philando Castile's sister, Allysza, cried as she told reporters, "He didn't deserve to die the way he did".

"Miss Monique", who says she's a victim of police brutality in Saint Paul, told the crowd they occupied the Fourth Precinct and the Governor's Mansion, shut down I-94 and then went to the courthouse.

On Friday, a jury chose to acquit the officer who shot Philando Castile on all charges in a decision that shocked many who followed the case.

Yanez fired repeatedly at Castile, testifying later he though the man was reaching for a gun.

Yanez then opened fire, shooting the driver seven times. No video existed of exactly what happened inside the auto. "Sir, I have to tell you, I do have a firearm on me".

Matches between the two old rivals is never a boring one with the adrenaline hitting record highs every time . I am very hopeful of their win especially after the way India have played in the tournament so far.

According to prosecutors, Yanez overreacted in the situation and Castile was not a threat to him. Differing interpretations on the intentions of Castile's next movements defined both the state and defense cases. Prosecutors questioned whether Yanez had even seen Castile's gun, and witnesses testified that it was in a pocket of Castile's shorts when paramedics pulled him from the auto.

She asked people if they remembered the Montgomery bus boycott, a protest against racial segregation on public transportation that ultimately led to a change in Alabama law. Castile's taillight was out; Yanez also testified he thought Castile resembled a suspect in a recent convenience store robbery.

The jury cleared the policeman of second degree manslaughter and two counts of felony of intentional discharge of a unsafe weapon for endangering the safety of Ms Reynolds and her four-year-old daughter. Prosecutors maintained that Yanez put their lives in danger when he opened fire into the vehicle.

July 6: Castile is fatally shot after Yanez stops his vehicle in Falcon Heights.

Castile's shooting was among a string of killings of black people by police around the USA, and the livestreaming of its aftermath by Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, attracted even more attention.

The shooting gained particular outrage, both for the nature of what happened but also the video that surfaced - taken by Castile's girlfriend - within the auto.

But soon after the abrupt termination, Trump told NBC News that he had been going to fire Comey regardless of any recommendations. The special counsel assigned by the DOJ to investigate the White House's involvement with Russian Federation is growing broader.

Minneapolis mayoral candidate Nekima Levy-Pounds said at the State Capitol rally, "We have a right to be sick and exhausted of being sick and exhausted ... In the meantime, Officer Yanez will not return to active duty".
