Cosby sexual assault case ends in mistrial

Actor and comedian Bill Cosby stands as his publicist Andrew Wyatt raises his fist after a judge declared a mistrial in Cosby's sexual assault trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, Pennsylvania, June 17, 2017.

Legal experts say prosecutors in Bill Cosby's sexual assault case are likely to reshape their case for the second trial.

Dozens of women have come forward to say he had drugged and assaulted them.

The jury appeared unable to agree on which version of the night in question to believe: Constand's or Cosby's. "She's entitled to a verdict in this case", said Steele. "Why are we running from the truth of this case - this relationship?"

In addition to proving that Cosby assaulted them, Smolla said, they would have to establish that he said something about them beyond denying the allegations, such as calling them known liars or promiscuous.

He remains free on $1 million bail, still charged with three counts of felony sexual assault.

The judge challenged McMonagle's requests to end the trial without a verdict, saying that for all he knows, the jury might be working toward an acquittal.

District Attorney Kevin Steele spoke to reporters after the judge declared a mistrial Saturday.

Constand is on board for the retrial.

Although Fendi was founded in 1925, it wasn't until 25 years later she was recruited to take over the PR and marketing team. A lover of art and music, Fendi was chief patron of the Two Worlds arts festival in the Umbrian city of Spoleto.

Almost two weeks after the trial began on June 5, O'Neill accepted a defense motion for a mistrial on Saturday.

But the panel returned yesterday to tell the judge they were still deadlocked on all three counts. With Cosby standing quietly by his side, he told them in no uncertain terms that they should "go back to law school".

Constand said she had to return calls from the Temple University trustee because he was an important booster and she worked for the women's basketball team.

Cosby's defense lawyers, however, argued that Constand's account could not be trusted after they pointed to numerous discrepancies in her statements to police in 2005, when she first reported the encounter, which occurred almost a year earlier.

The waiting room which he was sent to with associates and lawyers during breaks became his "dressing room", they said, and visitors were announced as if stopping by for an autograph on the set of a hit show.

They also reviewed statements Cosby made about the incident under oath during Constand's civil lawsuit in 2005 and 2006.

Drugging and sexually violating a woman at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004. Constand testified that she was planning to leave her job at Temple and embark on a new career plan and had been feeling stressed.

McMonagle said this year's trial was unfair.

An eighth woman withdrew her lawsuit.

Cosby thanked fans and supporters as he left court Friday. His wife, Camille, was in the courtroom briefly when the defense rested its case.

"It's simply inappropriate at this time", O'Neill said.

Jurors got the case on Monday.

O'Neill asked each juror if the impasse was impossible to resolve.

"You don't know why they were deadlocked".

"It's one thing to support your husband but that's beyond the pale", Troiani said. A retrial must take place within a year, but O'Neill said he wanted it to happen within 120 days.

Her case was initially settled by a civil suit but re-opened in 2015, when Pennsylvania prosecutors claimed that new evidence had come to light.

But Steele said it was no accident that some of Constand's memories were faulty.

Scalise Expected To Make 'Excellent Recovery' Despite Risk
They say he is able to communicate through notes, and signed the game ball from Friday's congressional baseball game. Since then, the lawmaker has undergone multiple surgeries and procedures to stop the bleeding and fix bone.

"This case is about a drug-facilitated sexual assault and it doesn't matter what you look like or who you are". As it turned out, the deliberations ended up taking longer than the presentation of evidence did.
