West Virginia University football coach Dana Holgorsen has announced that redshirt junior quarterback Will Grier has been cleared by the NCAA to begin playing at the start of the 2017 season. Caught off-guard by a failed drug test, he received a one-year suspension on October 13, 2015, for using a banned over-the-counter supplement.

Will Grier's suspension is over.

Scalise Expected To Make 'Excellent Recovery' Despite Risk
They say he is able to communicate through notes, and signed the game ball from Friday's congressional baseball game. Since then, the lawmaker has undergone multiple surgeries and procedures to stop the bleeding and fix bone.

WVU applied for a waiver to the NCAA nearly immediately after Grier made the decision to transfer. Grier claimed he was unaware the supplement contained a disallowed ingredient, but felt uneasy about remaining in Gainesville with the ban hanging over him.

But now Grier has been given the green light to play the entire season for the Mountaineers, who open September 3 against Virginia Tech at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.

Tributes to Victims of London Mosque Attack
To the north, Manchester was hit by a deadly attack May 22 when a suicide bomber killed 22 people at an Ariana Grande concert. The driver of the van, a 47-year-old man, was arrested at the scene after being detained by several members of the public.

There had been some question as to whether the NCAA would force Grier to sit out the first half of the 2017 season, but West Virginia applied for a waiver since Grier sat out the entire 2016 season due to his transfer. He had a season-high 283 yards against Tennessee and threw for 200 or more yards in three games, 250 or more in two games and completed multiple touchdowns in four games.

Grier is expected to start the Mountaineers' opener against Virginia Tech after his impressive performance in West Virginia's spring game, completing 12 of 18 pass attempts for 202 yards.
