Rasmussen Reports, a public-opinion polling organization, reported on Friday Trump's approval rating amongst likely US voters hit the 50 percent mark, the first time Rasmussen has recorded a Trump approval rating at 50 percent or higher since April 24, when Rasmussen found 51 percent of likely voters approved of Trump's performance.

An Associated Press poll released this week found six in 10 Americans disapprove of Trump's job performance, while a further 65 per cent said they do not believe he has "respect for the country's democratic institutions and traditions".

Only 9 percent of Democrats now approve of Trump, a number that has dropped one percentage point since Trump passed the 100-day mark in April. His firing of FBI Director James Comey and comments suggesting the move was connected to the bureau's Russian Federation probe, as well as his near-constant focus on the investigation, might not be helping him with the American people.

Not Even The Trump Train Can Derail America's Climate Change Progress
While announcing his controversial decision, Trump said he was motivated by a campaign pledge to put American workers first. The recent announcement brought distraught among anti-climate change lobbyists.

CBS News noted that more than half of Republicans call the investigation a political distraction that should be put aside.

Trump's response to the investigations into Russia's interference in the 2016 election has taken a bigger hit on his poll numbers than any other issue from his first 150 days.

The latest poll has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

United States says it shot down Iranian-made drone in Syria
Despite the increasing number of incidents, analysts say neither Syria's regime nor Washington now wants a major confrontation. And it is on the Raqa and eastern border fronts where the advances have brought the regime into conflict with US-led forces.

U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein named Mueller special counsel on May 1 after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.

Remember, rank-and-file GOP lawmakers on Capitol Hill have a very strong incentive to toe the party line and follow Trump's lead: the most rabid contingents of the Republican base support the president, and GOP officials who break ranks risk a backlash - or a primary challenge. Most Republicans feel the President is being criticized more than his predecessors and for some of them, that just makes them back the President even more. In May of 1993, Bill Clinton's approval rating was 39%. Overall, most Americans (57 percent) believe Comey more.

Trump's support among Republicans might have been a factor in the drop. For the landline sample, a respondent was randomly selected from all adults in the household.

Ossoff Loses, But All Isn't Lost
