Will uphold dignity of Presidency: Kovind

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday made it abundantly clear that his party will not change its stand on supporting RSS candidate for the President's post.

Meira Kumar's candidature was announced on Thursday.

The election for the next President of India is to be held on July 17 as President Pranab Mukherjee will demit the office on July 24. Naidu prided himself in thinking out of the box and giving India a "People's President". RJD chief Lalu Prasad was reported to have told journalists after the Opposition meeting, "Nitish ji called me, said that it is his personal decision".

"There is no doubt about the result". He also said that his party has taken an independent decision like this in the past also.

Queen's Speech: Brexit bills dominate government agenda
May lost her majority in the election and needed the fringe Democratic Unionist Party of Northern Ireland to form a government. Downing Street said the visit was not mentioned because a date had not yet been set. "That is not what she said".

"We have made an appeal today and will meet him at an iftar party tomorrow and urge him to review his decision". He reiterated that JD (U)'s decision will have no impact on the coalition.

71-year-old Kovind, who was the governor of Bihar, is Dalit. "He had worked in Bihar without any bias". She was chosen after a party meeting that included 17 opposition parties. They have plumped for NDA's Ram Nath Kovind, but for reasons completely alien to what the common man thinks.

Rao and BJP chief Amit Shah criticised each other recently, but the chief minister announced support to NDA in the presidential election, he said.

A lawyer and a former diplomat, Kumar had also served as a Cabinet Minister. He said the BJP's three-member committee had asked the CPI about its suggestion for a Presidential candidate.

Or, Pelosi could announce prior to the midterms that she won't seek the leadership position again , as New York Rep. I am disappointed by the outcome of the Georgia election but definitely not demoralized.

"This is a fight of ideologies, no midway here".

Another key opposition figure, BSP's Mayawati, has chose to back Meira Kumar in what should be a relief for the opposition camp as she had expressed that in the event the opposition does not come with a better Dalit candidate, she would go with the BJP's choice Kovind, a Dalit.

While Meira Kumar's Candidature surely takes the Presidential polls to a Dalit vs Dalit battle, it is definitely much more than that. "Had the BJP agreed on it, we would have supported him".

The Left: Though the parties were initially backing Mahatma Gandhi's grandson Gopal Krishna Gandhi or BR Ambedkar's grandson Prakash Ambedkar, they have finally agreed to rally behind Meira.
