Republican Senator Heller opposes healthcare bill

Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.), the most vulnerable Republican senator facing reelection next year, said he has "serious concerns about the bill's impact on the Nevadans who depend on Medicaid".

"That's not true, and that is not fair".

Joan Benso of Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children says Medicaid coverage for more than 1 million children in Pennsylvania will suffer under the bill. The House version of the legislation, the American Health Care Act, has the lowest support in polls of any major piece of legislation dating back to 1990.

"I am very supportive of the Senate #HealthcareBill".

"There isn't anything in this bill that would lower premiums", he said.

He called the Senate's bill "not a health care bill" but a "massive transfer of wealth from middle-class and poor families to the richest people in America".

Court drops charges against pro-life activists who filmed Planned Parenthood executives
What Republicans did- was write the Senate version of the bill behind closed doors. Bay area residents who rely on Planned Parenthood tell us they are anxious too.

Heller, like four other GOP senators who announced their opposition to the Obamacare repeal bill that was unveiled Thursday, left the door open to negotiations.

This month, the US Food and Drug Administration said that drugmaker Endo Pharmaceuticals must remove the opioid painkiller Opana ER from the market.

Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) said he continues "to have real concerns about the Medicaid policies in this bill, especially those that impact drug treatment at a time when OH is facing an opioid epidemic". In addition, the bill reduces the taxes on HSA distributions not used for qualified medical expenses from 20% to 10%.

Underscoring the sensitivity of the bill, Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio. It would offer less generous subsidies for people than Obama's law but provide billions to states and insurance companies to buttress markets that in some areas have been abandoned by insurers.

"Right now the challenge is - how do we get to 50?" Under the Affordable Care Act, single taxpayers with incomes above $200,000 and couples making more than $250,000 annually have to pay an additional 0.9% Medicare payroll tax on the amount they earn above these thresholds.

"Basically what we are trying to do is four different things".

Danny Ainge said Josh Jackson 'didn't want to play for the Celtics'
No one in our organization did. "That's a great compliment, especially with all the great guys in this class". Horford played considerably better at forward then in the paint a year ago and that was expected.

The nation has not seen a reduction in the numbers of people overdosing and becoming addicted, he said, adding that "the timing of reducing the numbers of people covered by health insurance is very unfortunate".

"Is this bill good?" "I don't think there's any doubt about that".

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Tex.) said there are parts of the bill he supports such as the expansion of association health plans and the reform of Medicaid.

U.S. Senate Republicans introduced their plan for shriveling former President Barack Obama's health-care law Thursday, edging a step closer to their dream of repeal with a bill that would slice and reshape Medicaid for the poor, relax rules on insurers and end tax increases on higher earners that have helped finance expanded coverage for millions.

But it was unclear if, or how, the Senate would follow the House's path and forbid the use of health care tax credits to buy coverage that includes abortions. Also against it are Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf, Pennsylvania's hospitals, the Arc of Pennsylvania, the AARP of Pennsylvania and labor unions. A House Republican told a reporter from The Hill last yesterday that if the Senate bill passes next week, the House will simply pass that version "as is", sending it on to Donald Trump for a presidential signature. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has said he's willing to alter the measure to attract support, and next week promises plenty of back-room bargaining as he tries pushing a final package through his chamber. Just as in the House bill, the Senate legislation would eliminate two taxes that Obamacare levied on the wealthy to help pay for the law. "Medicaid provisions included in this bill are particularly problematic".

Medicaid is a program for the low-income and disabled, funded with a blend of federal and state dollars, and the 265,000 in ME who have Medicaid consist of mostly the disabled, children and low-income seniors who qualify for both Medicaid and Medicare.
