Rayagada: Suspected cattle traffickers in the state allegedly assaulted seven tourists from Andhra Pradesh for opposing the way they were ill treating the animals in Rayagada district, police said on Saturday.

"They came to collector office requesting for a police escort in order to take them to safety", she added.

The incident was reported from Patupadar under Bissamkataka police station area of Rayagada district on Friday evening. During spot visit after the case registration it was found the incident occurred near Putupadar village under jurisdiction of Bissamcuttack police station, so it was transferred to Bissamcuttack. "When they tried to stop them they got agitated and misbehaved with one of the lady and hit one of the mail friends with a stick", District collector Guha Punam Tapas Kuma said.
