Kochi: The private hospital managements have clarified that they are ready to pay the salary fixed by government to nurses.

The chief minister will be trying to bring about a consensus so that nurses would accept the minimum wages fixed at Rs 17,200 (basic pay) for entry-level staff. Nurses have been opposing this wage structure since it has been fixed after merging their DA.

The hospital managements also decided that hospitals will not be shut down under any circumstances. Dr. Pillai said: "We are looking to have a permanent mechanism to evolve a formula on wages".

The chief minister will hold talks with the nurses' associations on Thursday in the presence of the representatives of private hospital managements, an official release said here.
