LA Galaxy manager Curt Onalfo has refused to comment on the possibility of Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing in his side.

Ibrahimovic has always been linked with a move to the StubHub Center, with a £6 million-a-year deal reported to be on the table for the injured striker following his exit from Manchester United.

The Swede's deal with the club expired at the end of June, and was not extended due to the serious knee injury he sustained in April.

Asked whether the Galaxy - who have lured David Beckham and Steven Gerrard to StubHub Center in the past - had space for a marquee, Onalfo said: "Absolutely".

Responding to growing speculation on Thursday, Onalfo told reporters: "Our policy is not to comment on players that are not part of our team".

"The two young lads play in a youth group alongside Giggs and Butt's kids, they all get on very well". "We always have. The DNA of the Galaxy is to attract world-class players, so we're always looking for one".

Giovani dos Santos and Ashley Cole are now the best-known names in a Galaxy side stuttering in the MLS standings.

However, Ibrahimovic has been working hard on his comeback since, and reports suggest that he could be offered a new deal by United - news Mourinho has all but confirmed, although he insisted the Old Trafford club will wait to see how the striker's recovery continues.

Assuming he proves his fitness, Ibrahimovic is now expected to sign a contract in January, with Mourinho hopeful he can provide a significant boost at a critical time of the season and take some of the pressure of Romelu Lukaku.

He netted 28 goals in 46 appearances for Manchester United last season before succumbing to a keen injury in March.
