Man, Transgender Wife Sue Amazon For Discrimination

Dan Lane and Allegra Schawe Lane filed suit against Amazon in US District Court Wednesday

Dan Lane and Allegra Schawe Lane filed suit against Amazon in US District Court Wednesday

"I thought we would be safe and accepted", Schawe-Lane said in a telephone interview. Instead, workers taunted them with "shemale" and "crossdresser" comments, according to Reuters.

Dana Lane and Allegra Schawe-Lane had been employed at the Amazon warehouse in Hebron from October 2014 until October 2015. Both of them were called "faggots". Coworkers threatened to beat them up. The discrimination and harassment, according to the lawsuit, entailed being intentionally referred to by male pronouns and titles "with the goal and effect of humiliating" her, sexual harassment, threats of physical violence, "hostility" that made it hard for her to use the women's bathroom, pay deductions and a lot of other really messed up stuff. However, that's not what the Lanes experienced, they claim. The warehouse improperly calculated her hours worked, resulting in lost wages, and refused to correct their work when she complained. She and her husband Dane Lane also received crass comments about their sex life, it said.

When they filed a complaint with the company, their supervisors were told to "watch them closely". "While driving home one day from the secure Amazon parking lot, they found that the brakes on their vehicle were not working correctly, and learned from their mechanic that the brake line was intentionally severed, putting the couple at significant risk of serious injury or death".

Trump touts online poll showing he's a 'better president' than Obama
Now, if this was a random, scientifically accurate poll, the results would look pretty darn good for the President. We all know that President Trump doesn't think very highly of most mainstream polls in America.

"They were driving home and said, 'The brakes aren't working so well.' They went to the mechanic and found that the brake line had intentionally been severed". They reported the incident, but Amazon did not investigate.

"It was like a bad dream", Schawe-Lane said.

Several months before quitting, they filed a discrimination claim with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). "Yet in Kentucky, when a transgender person comes and says, 'Look, I'm being harassed, ' they get no help".

Zidane could also bring in playmaker Isco , and return to a 4-3-3 system by giving Cristiano Ronaldo a first start of the season. Casemiro struck an opener before Isco - a player once linked with a move to Old Trafford - doubled Los Blancos' lead.

The fund's executive director, Jillian Weiss, noted that Amazon has intervened in other court cases in support of transgender rights, and that the company's Amazon Studios produced the acclaimed television series "Transparent" with a protagonist who transitions from male to female. The Freedom Award is for "extraordinary contributions to the advancement of transgender rights".

After Schawe-Lane notified Amazon that she is transgender, she began experiencing "discrimination and harassment by Amazon employees, supervisors, and managers", the lawsuit alleges.
