The Miami Herald is reporting owner Jeffrey Loria has agreed to a deal in principle to sell the franchise to Jeter and NY businessman Bruce Sherman for $1.2 billion.

Jeter's team reportedly consists of about 16 investors with varying stakes in the team, with the largest investment coming from NY businessman and venture capitalist Bruce Sherman.

While Sherman, a Marlins fan, will reportedly be the "control person", the future Hall of Fame shortstop will run the baseball and business side, a source told the newspaper. Jeter will contribute about $25 million to the purchase, but he is close with Sherman, thus granting him vast power once the sale is completed.

Jeter is contributing $25 million to the bid, according to the Herald.

Wall Street Starts to Pay Attention to North Korea Tensions
Against the greenback, the Swiss franc eased about 0.1 percent to 0.9645 per dollar, having surged about 1.1 percent on Wednesday. Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group slumped 1.1 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively.

Major League Baseball is now awaiting the final paperwork of the sale and that could happen later on Friday.

Derek Jeter, the New York Yankees legend and Kalamazoo native, appears to be set to become a major-league owner.

Several big names were involved, at one time, in the bidding, including Tagg Romney, the son of former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, as well as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

Major League Baseball owners meet next week in Chicago, where the Marlins situation may be discussed. The sale is expect to close the first week of October, according to Jackson.

LG V30 Smartphone Camera to Feature f/1.6 Lens
As we already said, the V30 Plus is aimed at the South Korean market and will hit the shelves alongside the V30 on September 15. The V30 Plus is expected to have 128GB of storage on deck, whereas the regular V30 will have "merely" 64GB of the stuff inside.

Derek Jeter is finally getting his wish to own a baseball team - if all goes well. Loria bought the Marlins in 2002 for $158.5 million.

Loria made a decision to sell the team for personal reasons and had been seeking a buyer for months.

Businessobserver.com refers to Sherman as "the shrewd Naples investor who posted spectacular investment returns for years before the financial crisis and a bet on Bear Stearns blemished an otherwise stellar track record".

He consistently ranked among the American League leaders in hits and runs scored for most of his career, and served as the Yankees' team captain from 2003 until his retirement in 2014.

Gold steady near 2-month highs on N. Korea tensions
Still, he said, "the Washington, D.C., bedlam and North Korea's saber-rattling is muddying the broader landscape". The Japanese yen hit an eight-week high against the USA dollar, while spot gold also reached a two-month high.
