Trump hits McConnell for Senate crash of Obama health law repeal

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump warned North Korea of "fire and fury" in response to recent threats from Pyongyang, which said it was examining plans for attacking Guam, a US territory in the Pacific with a military base.

Having experienced a Japanese invasion in World War Two and countless earthquakes and super-typhoons, there was no United States community better prepared than Guam "for any contingency", Calvo, dressed in a light blue tropical shirt, said in an interview at his office.

Tensions spiked yet further when North Korean state media later said Pyongyang was considering strikes near USA military installations in Guam.

USA nuclear expert Siegfried Hecker, who has repeatedly visited North Korea's nuclear facilities, said he doesn't think North Korea now has weapons systems for "enveloping fire" around Guam, as it threatened.

"I feel that the presence of the military on Guam will help us a lot", said Ms Virgie Matson, 51, a resident of Dededo, Guam's most populated village.

Laos says it will withdraw troops as Cambodia's Hun Sen visits
Thongloun said he was sorry he had not responded to an Aug 2 letter from Hun Sen seeking withdrawal of the troops. According to Hun Sen the Laos soldiers crossed into Cambodia to halt the construction of a road.

The island is home to two major US military installations - Andersen Air Force Base with its fleet of powerful bombers and Naval Base Guam.

Guam posted a fact sheet for use "in case of emergency" to its social media pages and website in the wake of North Korea's threat toward the island. "Hopefully Kim Jong-un will find another path!" he tweeted.

"The most visible impact of escalating verbal threats between North Korea and President Trump comes at the long end of the US Treasury curve", said Jim Vogel, interest rates strategist at FTN Financial in Memphis.

The McMaster-Chung call came after U.S. President Donald Trump on August 10 tweeted that "Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely". "I would expect the markets to react again pretty negatively to any more tough talk from either side, but for now, everybody seems to have settled down, and we'll see what happens".

The most specific threat from North Korea at the moment is directed at the USA territory of Guam, a tiny island in the Pacific. The tourist district of Tumon, home to many of Guam's hotels and resorts, is in between. North Korea has been developing its nuclear-weapon and missile technology for years. "The intention is to deter and contain North Korea". They threatened US, other countries, and they threaten Guam. South Korean government plans to inject 210 billion dollars into three programs: Kill Chain, Korea and Missile Defense and the Korea Massive Punishment and Retaliation plan.

Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (IONS) Given Outperform Rating at BMO Capital Markets
Following the transaction, the chairman now directly owns 48,014 shares in the company, valued at approximately $2,657,574.90. Westpac Banking Corp bought a new position in Ionis Pharmaceuticals during the first quarter worth approximately $171,000.

The tiny American territory of Guam feels a strong sense of patriotism and confidence in the American military, which has an enormous presence on the Pacific island.

"Definitely, I know Guam is a pretty good target because it's important to the US because of the military", she said. North Korea has a population of 25 million, with an army of between 700,000 and 1.3 million members.

"Of course, it's all come at a time when share markets are due for a correction, so North Korea has provided a flawless trigger".

Two recent intercontinental ballistic missile tests showed the technical ability, in theory, for missiles to reach Alaska or the West Coast of the mainland. There are other people that are just sick and exhausted of the threats from North Korea because there sure have been many over the years.

HU:.There's a certain island calm about the war of words between Washington and Pyongyang.
