McIlroy Blames "Complete Different" Course After Tough 2nd Round At The PGA

Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri carded two-over 72 in the second round to be tied 46th as he made the cut for the weekend rounds of the PGA Championship at the Quail Hollow Club here on Friday.

He hooked his tee shot into the water on the reachable par-4 14th, had to drop in nasty rough and missed a short putt to make double bogey.

Quail Hollow played to an average score of 74.7, making the PGA Championship look like the toughest test of the year in the majors. He saved his round with two late birdies for a 1-over 72 and still was just five shots behind.

"I had a chance to run away from guys and take people out of the tournament that were four or five (or) six back, and I didn't do it. Now I'm in a dogfight tomorrow and I have to be prepared for that", said the world number 25.

Justin Thomas is a further shot adrift on five-under-par, alongside former Open champion Louis Oosthuizen.

Kisner did that as well as anyone for so much of the day. "You can hit it right like Jason did today and then there is water on the left, so it is tough all of the way around".

PGA Championship tee times, pairings: Field for Round 3 on Saturday
The 25-year-old Japanese star already was 5 under for his round in tough conditions, and he added two birdies after the rain. McIlroy had a three-hole stretch Thursday that included a double bogey after he had reached 2 under for the tournament.

Despite that, Kisner could capture the title in just his 12th major start. "I think that's why I feel like I'm ready to win a major championship now versus previous year, when I probably didn't have that."That's what Tiger [Woods] did so well". It would be awesome to take home the Wanamaker Trophy.

"I don't know if the other players should be nervous or not, but this is my first experience leading a major, or tied for the lead after 36 holes [sic]", Matsuyama said.

Brooks Koepka clocked a marshal in the head at the first round of the PGA Championship.

T2. Chris Stroud (-6): Speaking of unlikely names, Stroud made the cut at the PGA Championship for just the second time in four chances.

"It played very hard today", said the 35-year-old American, who recorded his first PGA Tour victory in Reno, Nevada six days ago.

"I'm happy I'm in the position I'm in", said the South Carolinan.

JDU Drops Leader From Parliamentary Party For Attending Opposition Meet
He said, "Nitish Kumar went against the mandate". "Yesterday (Friday) they suspended me from the parliamentary party". Yadav, who is the party's leader in the Rajya Sabha, is likely to part ways with JD (U).

It was the start of a run of three straight birdies for Day, but he finished bogey-quadruple bogey to shoot 77 and fall out of contention.

"I'm disappointed the way I played (Saturday)", Matsuyama said via an interpreter.

"And DJ [Johnson] is like, 'I'll do it.' And I'm like, 'That's great'".

"I had to give him a hug for it". There were 41 pars, 20 bogeys and 10 double bogeys.

"I've never felt so relaxed on the golf course and it's a lot of the reason I'm playing so well".
