Trump Under Sharp Attack for Failure to Denounce White Supremacists

Clashes in Charlottesville

Trump's mealy-mouthed remarks failed to identify the root cause of the violence or to express the moral outrage over the warped ideology of the white nationalists. Speaking from his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump said: "We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides".

President Trump condemned "hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides" in addressing the riots in Charlottesville on Saturday, when hundreds of white nationalists, neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klan members who planned to stage a rally clashed with counterprotesters. "He called for national unity and bringing all Americans together", a White House spokesperson said.

Trump himself remained silent, but the White House also took the position that he had already delivered sufficient condemnation of the right-wing hate groups. Some rightists have claimed allegiance to him.

Virginia's physical violence should not obscure the racially motivated political violence that Trump's presidency feeds on.

Manchester United won the EFL Cup and the Europa League last season to mask over their Premier League disappointment. The Premier League match between Manchester United and West Ham will be broadcast live online and on NBCSN.

Trump fielded bipartisan criticism on Saturday when he suggested that "many sides" were to blame for the violence at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, which ended in a auto plowing into a group of described "anti-racist" protesters - killing one person and injuring 19 others.

President Trump also said that people should unite, bearing in mind that they "are all Americans first". Arrested for second-degree murder and other charges was 20-year-old James Alex Fields Jr., of Ohio.

On August 1, one day after the abrupt exit of White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, President Trump dined with communications whiz Rupert Murdoch. "These were white supremacists and this was domestic terrorism", Republican senator Cory Gardner tweeted.

Fields, a registered Republican who reportedly had always been obsessed with Nazis, appears to have been an avowed white supremacist and stood alongside members of the Vanguard America hate group during the rally that day. That's why it is on all of us to stand up to these reprehensible acts and speak out against white supremacy.

Neo-nazis descended into the city on Friday (11Aug17) night to protest the removal of a statue representing Confederate General Robert E. Lee, who served the pro-slavery South of the country during the U.S. Civil War until surrendering in 1865 when the pro-emancipation North won the battle.

Asked if Bannon will also be shown the door at the White House, Scaramucci said, "the president knows what he's going to do", and "has a very good idea of the people that are undermining his agenda". He did not specify when.

The chaotic scene in the small college city was triggered by the largest gathering of white nationalists in a decade and prompted Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe to declare a state of emergency, a decision that sent swarms of police officers in riot gear into the fray in an effort to keep the peace.

About 15 people were injured after rival groups fought pitched battles using fists, rocks and pepper spray. It has no place in America.
