Fresno weighed in forcefully even if in small numbers against hatred and violence Saturday night in the wake of events hours earlier that had ended with the deaths of three people amid protests in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The vigil wass being put on by Transylvania Indivisible, a community political organization that says it is working to "impede the successful implementation of the Trump agenda". A few dozen showed up to show their support. The group plans to march afterward to the statue of Confederate General Albert Pike in Judiciary Square "to denounce the symptoms of white supremacy in our midst".

Confrontation with North Korea not imminent
Trump warned last week that North Korea would be met with "fire and fury" if it continued to threaten his country. He said he doesn't think the U.S.is closer to war than a week ago, but closer to war than a decade ago.

The group had candles and talked about standing up against the violence across the country. They also said it's important to come together to fight for their cause. "We need to be sure we elect people who will stand up to this, and ensure that our democracy is maintained".

"We need to be visible and support each other", she said, "and make it clear that we're creating a protective circle around our vulnerable population".

Notably absent are photos of any Republicans, who Trump has not shied away from criticizing in recent weeks for failing to repeal Obamacare.

Indivisible is providing a "find an event near you" search service to help find another vigil should Frenchtown be inconvenient.

The vigil took place in the parking lot where Alfred Olango died past year in an officer involved shooting.
