Search underway in south Dublin in connection with Trevor Deely disappearance

Gardaí will continue their search today for Trevor Deely, who disappeared in Dublin 17 years ago.

Gardaí are also examining intelligence that suggests that Mr Deely, who vanished on his way home from an office party in the early hours of December 8th, 2000, was killed by a criminal well known to the Garda.

The site search is focused on an area on the Old Lucan Road in Chapelizod, Dublin 20.

Gardaí launched a complete review of the investigation past year.

In April, newly enhanced CCTV footage was released showing Mr Deely talking to a man dressed in black outside the Bank of Ireland on Baggot Street.

The file on Trevor has never been closed, and there have been a number of appeals for information over the year.

Detective Inspector Paul Costello said a perimeter had been set up with no public allowed access allowed.

Detectives say they still have not identified the man in the CCTV footage.
