A multi-state outbreak of bacterial infections that is believed to have originated at national pet store chain is under investigation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Those infected ranged in age from less than a year to 64 years, and nine people were hospitalized. There have been nine hospitalizations and no deaths reported.

Petland is cooperating with the CDC, the agency reports.

Drew Brees' contract doesn't allow Saints to use franchise tag
The New Orleans Saints are looking to have a successful year after failing to make into the playoffs in the last three years. Most of the talk before this game will centre on the return of Adrian Peterson to Minnesota.

The outbreak of Campylobacter infections has sickened 39 people from seven states, including Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Most cases in humans occur from eating raw or undercooked chicken, or eating foods that have been cross contaminated by infected poultry products, Jan noted.

The CDC still stood by man's best friend (and favorite felines): 'The bond between people and their pets can increase fitness, lower stress, and bring happiness to their owners, ' the notice said.

Hurricane Irma 'completely devastates' Richard Branson's private island
After the hurricane passed, Branson announced that his beloved island, which he has owned since 1978, had been badly damaged. Irma destroyed "upwards of 90 percent" of the island of Barbuda, which lay directly in its path.

The outbreak was reported between September 15, 2016 and August 12, 2017. The remainder of cases come from animals and other sources. Along with the 18 cases in OH, the CDC reports 11 cases were found in Florida, 5 in Kansas, 2 in Pennsylvania, and one case each in Missouri, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. Among the 39 ill people, 12 are Petland employees from 4 states and 27 either recently purchased a puppy at Petland, visited a Petland, or visited or live in a home with a puppy sold through Petland before illness began. "Last week the CDC advised Petland to "continue to do what we are already doing" and to continue to educate customers and staff to sanitize their hands after handling our puppies". The bacteria can spread through contact with dog feces. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, stomach cramps, nausea, and vomiting. The federal health agency says that some cases go undiagnosed, but an estimated 1.3 million people get the disease each year in the U.S. The 2009 investigation also revealed Petland also bought the dogs through brokers who worked as middlemen between the retail stores and those facilities.

Any dog or puppy can carry the bacteria, but not everyone shows signs of the disease.

To avoid contamination from your pet, CDC recommends you wash your hands thoroughly after touching dogs, their poop, or their food. The CDC says it usually does not spread from one person to another.

IAEA Chief Says Iran Playing by the Rules
USA and global sanctions can and should be used to punish Iran for such activities and are not inconsistent with the nuclear deal.

People with weakened immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and people with cancer or other severe illnesses, are most at risk for a serious infection. The CDC advises taking a new dog to the veterinarian for a check-up within a few days or week after adoption. Pick up and dispose dog poop carefully, especially in areas where children might play.
